This FBI thing is starting to feel like everyone & everything is about to come down & college basketball (as we know it) is about to change - a lot. Maybe not in the next couple months...but it sure looks like that's what's coming. The releasing and leaking of this information has been slowly for a reason. I'm just not sure anyone but the super high ups know what that is.

The upside I guess is that the fans don't care. But if the entire sport is corrupt & the FBI is trying to prove it - doesn't it seem like this could result in an overhaul of some sort? Or are they just gonna keep chipping away at a player here, school there? I admittedly have no idea. Just seems massive to me.

Don't see how a school can police family and agents making deals it's not possible. They make it headline ncaa scandal cause that grabs a big audience.

The issue of the leaks is that none of these things are Federal crimes (other than the money laundering stuff)...the only way this goes forward is if the Universities remain "victims"...because of NCAA violations...

In other words the FBI's case depends on the NCAA rules...that is the only way the Universities can be the victim, but this gets really dicey because of the Universities are benefiting by illegally recruiting players they are no longer victims but perpetrators violating NCAA rules...

At this point the University of Arizona is one of the FEW colleges that can claim being a victim here because of Book...this may actually turn out in our favor

If you actually care about NCAA rules, today brought out that over 20 top programs had players on the court who were ineligible for receipt of extra benefits from ASM.

The more philosophical question is whether that's actually corrupt. An agency that makes money representing athletes paid money to athletes it wanted to represent. It's basically direct compensation for a skill. In America, that's cool unless you're a NCAA athlete.

Personally, I could care less if agents want to bankroll players. Money for talent is fine. The only part I get hacked off about is that Arizona has been dragged through the mud this season despite virtually all the top 20 having played a kid who got extra benefits.

This is the system. As long as you don't run the holier than thou game, I don't care. If you're Tad Boyle attacking Arizona, I want the spreadsheets to have your players on it.

It's weird that getting "Allonzo Trier-ed" is going to eventually mean the opposite of getting Allonzo cleared.

This was my first thought this morning. I’m praying for more news from other schools so that whatever we did or didn’t do looks more and more like par for the course (which it obviously is).
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

But, Chi, don’t you think ADs/coaches/admins from the schools named are in dialogue with lawyers and the NCAA trying to manage the fallout from all of this as much as possible? CBS too. So even if there’s more coming with other schools, they’re going to stagger the release of info, if not keep things entirely under wraps. There’s too much at stake. They probably figure: let Sean and AZ take the heat and attention right now, which buys others a little time to plot the next move.

Wasn't sure where to post this but this seems like a pretty general thread.

NIT Will Use Experimental Rules Again This Year
• The three-point line will be extended by approximately 1 foot 8 inches to the same distance used by FIBA for international competition (22 feet 1.75 inches).
• The free throw lane will be widened from 12 feet to 16 feet, consistent with the width used by the NBA.
• The games will be divided into four 10-minute quarters as opposed to two 20-minute halves. Teams will shoot two free throws beginning with the fifth foul of each quarter.
• The shot clock will reset to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound instead of the full 30 seconds.

Not really. Got 2 games at home then Pac 12 Tourney in Vegas then the Big Dance all on neutral courts.

Having said that would think this team has an us against the world mentality at this point.

The way Ayton played at Oregon, I'd welcome hostile crowds. But we know Vegas won't be, and the tourney games, even in the most lopsided locations, are so neutered anyways.

Depending on how the REAL news/sports sources (not ESPN) cover this, Sean could really come across as a wronged victim of fake news. If that happens, there will be a lot of people all across the country who will be rooting for the Wildcats to win it all.

Only way we're not sole pac 12 champs is if we lose to Cal and USC beats UCLA. Any of the other 3 scenarios Saturday and we're sole champs. Guaranteed the 1 seed in the tournament either way. Game with ASU is looming next Thursday now too.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

Stanford is a great matchup for this team. Pretty solid at every position.

If I am correct, the wildcats only have 3 losses with their regular starting 5 correct?

This team needs Alkins to be a consistent, regular contributor.

Ha. I just posted "Hit Em Up" lyrics in the Miller thread, then I click here and see this.

I sort of prefer Hit Em Up because Schlabach can be the major target and various other media personalities can be the alternative targets, but Bomb First is a great song too.

Heck, if by some miracle we make the Final Four, Miller should come out to Picture Me Rollin. Pac's entire discography is appropriate. Or we should really fire at the NCAA and play Picture Me Rollin for Ayton...
