I'd take a guy like Justin Simon right now.

The PAC is terrible. Most mid majors would love to have our scrubs. We could easily recruit guys like Buffalo has. But we go for the big splash 5 stars, don't give them the ball, or allow them to be ballhogs and terrible defenders.Merkin wrote:Won't even make the tourney next year with a bunch of scrubs.NYCat wrote:Feel like this is the beginning of the end of the Miller era, it'll never be the same .
Did you forget how bad a defensive team we have been all year? This isn't all that surprising if you look at the makeup of Buffalo's team. If we couldn't take advantage of our size on offense, which we didn't, there was no chance we could win. Deandre had no chance to defend that guard, and was pulled away from the hoop all gamephxcat23 wrote:I just don't understand how we are not prepared. We knew Buffalo is going to live and die by the 3. Yet they are manhandling us and getting open looks all night. Just don't get it at all. They clearly prepped for Ayton/Ristic, but we look like we didn't do shit

Yes.DrWildcat wrote:Just don't care what happens this off season. Can it really get any worse?
Exactly when you don't hold your "stars" accountable how is the team going to respond.catgrad97 wrote:Randolph, Akot in. PJC out.
Why Trier is still in is one of the dysfunctions of this program IMHO.

It's a personnel problem. Not a coaching problem. It's amazing that Miller coached this roster to a regular season title & conference tourney title. Our guards are really, really bad. PJC, for all his effort in the conference tourney, is not the caliber of guard. And Trier has no shot in the NBA.Gladiator Cat wrote:About to be a 20 point loss to a 13 seed. You can't win without good guards. We haven't recruited good guards for a while.Gladiator Cat wrote:Guys if you want the brutal truth and being honest. Outside of Ayton, our talent is not that good. It sounds crazy but it's true.

But isn't the personnel Miller's choice? He stuck with PJC when everyone knew he couldn't take us far. Doesn't draw up plays to get the ball to our best guys?? Miller isn't blameless at all.zonagrad wrote:It's a personnel problem. Not a coaching problem. It's amazing that Miller coached this roster to a regular season title & conference tourney title. Hansen will be proven to be right.
He is soft mentally. Always worried about what everyone thinks of him. Said he he was snubbed from for the West award final 5 (he was) and to see what he does the rest of the way. Well we did and it was horrible.CalStateTempe wrote:Yep.billk78 wrote:And the inability or refusal to involve our best player.zonagrad wrote:Yep.CalStateTempe wrote:And the commonality among these three games is trier playing like trashSCCats wrote: Xavier too
And I’m sorry if I give two shits about triers advanced metrics when he absolutely kills us when it matters then most.
You want be a big baller you gotta take the big baller criticism.
So much athleticism and such as waste for us
They're the 13 seed against a preseason #1 and final four contender. If we let them win by 20 we deserve whatever they want to do to us.PieceOfMeat wrote:exactly why is buffalo launching 3's with under 2 to go and up 19?

I don't blame them. Not many people gave them a shot and they came out and outworked us and our NBA stars.PieceOfMeat wrote:exactly why is buffalo launching 3's with under 2 to go and up 19?

Totally agree. He won me over. Outside of him there was 0 effort tonight.phxcat23 wrote:The 1 positive, Dusan played a hell of a game. I respect him for his effort and intensity tonight.

Of course the personnel are on Miller. But you can't make a trade in midseason. If guys like Simon & Simmons don't leave, is PJC really on the floor this season? The plays are set up to get the ball to our best player. The execution isn't there. Miller isn't drawing up plays for Trier to take contested 3's. But when your guards can't recognize what is happening and take advantage there's not a lot a coach can do. And that's why it's so maddening for a coach and the fans.billk78 wrote:But isn't the personnel Miller's choice? He stuck with PJC when everyone knew he couldn't take us far. Im upset and maybe overreacting, but I honestly won't miss Trier at all. This team may have been better off without him. Good luck in the NBA to De'Andre. Ristic gave some effort. Overall this was an embarassment and downright pathetic
Yeah, he has zero elite skills. I'm not even sure what he is actually good at. He is decent at many things, so I guess there's that. And then, there is his dribbling ability and his defense, which are both horrendousbillk78 wrote:Still not sure how Alkins is even considered NBA ready. I like the dude and he has potential.
