Did Miller do that to see if he still feels?

Merkin, am I the only one on this board who doesn't know what your long-time avatar shows? My eyes have always read it as Madeleine Albright sitting between Larry David and Harvey Korman, both of whom are reproached by a nun.

Exactly, LH.Longhorned wrote:Merkin, am I the only one on this board who doesn't know what your long-time avatar shows? My eyes have always read it as Madeleine Albright sitting between Larry David and Harvey Korman, both of whom are reproached by a nun.
I'd give anything to be sitting between David and Korman.

Right where I want to be.

I always thought the guy on the right was Charlie Bucket's uncle, the late, great Jack Albertson.

Okay, so I was right about Madeleine Albright, but instead of Harvey Korman, that's Bea Arthur next to her.
Re: let's talk '19
Pretty cool, Salpointe kid from South Sudan who grew up in Kenya. Sean's son is the senior pg on the team.
Re: let's talk '19
Sounds exactly like Sean's kinda guy. Big motor and he likes to defend. Hopefully we pick up this commit

I could be delusional, but I still think a Pac title and a nice tourney run could get back some of our recruiting mojo, regardless of what’s happening with any investigation.

Doesn't hurt, for sure, but doesn't wipe out that lingering concern that a recruit might have... committing to a school that could get sanctioned.Beachcat97 wrote:I could be delusional, but I still think a Pac title and a nice tourney run could get back some of our recruiting mojo, regardless of what’s happening with any investigation.

Nice! Have we ever won a recruiting battle with a reclassified recruit? I'm blanking (Akot was committed already so doesn't really count).ChooChooCat wrote:I'd move the Mannion stuff to the 2019 thread.

I'm not sure how many we pursued before they officially reclassified. Most kids don't typically reclassify until they're with the junior class and move up to the senior class, in this instance he'd move up from sophomore to junior, so there's still plenty of time to recruit. Fwiw even with all the crap going on we never backed off of Mannion.NYCat wrote:Nice! Have we ever won a recruiting battle with a reclassified recruit? Re: let's talk '19
I don't have stats to back this, but it seems like reclassing is a fairly recent thing. The phenomenon of players delaying a class to build a name then jumping back to reclass and enter "early," well, I don't remember it happening a ton before the last 5 years or so.NYCat wrote:Nice! Oh it's been happening for much longer than that. The recent high amount of them have to do with Canadian kids though as they are ahead of the grain academically than their American peers.Spaceman Spiff wrote:I don't have stats to back this, but it seems like reclassing is a fairly recent thing. Want
Also Arizona was the first offer to Devonaire Doutrieve's teammateJosh Green | 6-6 | PG/SG
Australia | Age: 17.2
The breakout performer of the camp, Green was a rightful MVP and proved to be one of the top NBA prospects in attendance. The Australian guard combines excellent physical tools (6-5 barefoot, 6-10 wingspan) with a strong frame, smooth athleticism and a polished skill set, operating on the ball almost full time and showing an innate ability to operate at different speeds and create for both himself and his teammates at a very high level. Green has excellent footwork and body control, handling the ball on a string, seeing both sides of the court and using his vision unselfishly. He has very soft touch on his floaters and can make a pull-up from the mid-range, but he's still figuring out the nuances of finishing aggressively around the basket and has yet to fully extend his jumper out to 3 consistently (career 34 percent on 3s, 67 perfect on free throws, according to Krossover). His release is a little slow and low, but he has soft touch and the ball comes out of his hand nicely, leaving room for optimism regarding his ability to improve in this area.
He competes defensively as well, thanks to his quick feet and long arms, and shows good instincts getting in the passing lanes, making him arguably the most complete player at the camp with plenty of upside to continue to improve as well. Ranked in the 20s by most recruiting analysts, Green made a strong case for himself as a top-10 player in the 2019 class and is likely to emerge as an intriguing NBA prospect down the road as well if he continues to improve his shooting. -- Jonathan Givony
Christian Junior Koloko | 6-11 | C
Cameroon | Age: 17.6
Although he wasn't able to play during scrimmages due to a California state rule (he's in midseason with Birmingham High School), Koloko proved to be one of the more interesting long-term center prospects in attendance. He measured 6-10 barefoot with a massive 7-4 wingspan, a 9-2 standing reach and an incredibly light 170-pound frame. Koloko is clearly still at a very early stage of his physical development, but he's extremely agile with good hands and soft touch, sometimes even knocking down spot 3s despite some extra motion in his shot. Koloko has a ways to go physically and we still need to get a better feel for his game, but scouts will certainly earmark his name given his budding tools. -- MS

Might just be the fact that we'll begin next season unranked, with a roster full of unproven but hungry players. Miller's about to show what he can do without an Ayton, Lauri, SJ, or AG.azgreg wrote:I don't know what it is but I'm beginning to feel a little optimism coming on for next season.
I'm always optimistic with AZ hoops.

I'm excited to actually get pumped about wins again and not just disappointed about losses.
That sounds worse than I thought it would.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

He would be a nice grad transfer pickup. This is the 19 thread, although I think he's 18. I think we have room for time for a grad transfer and freshman on the perimeter.azgreg wrote:

Anyone know anything about the kid from Pima (I think he is a forward) that hit 9 3's last game to put them in the JC championship?

Keven Biggs. Guard, played for Cienega.
My son is friends with his older brother Darren who also played for Cienega, and my son went to and works at Cienega. I asked him what he thought, he doesn't think he's athletic enough or tall enough (listed at 6'4" 205). One of his other friends who played with Darren thinks he's worth an offer given the situation.
Tucson good.

I am hoping Sean can get a commit in the next week or two, then maybe the domino effect will happen.

Yo... we offered him in his initial recruiting period. Wonder if we can swoop this southern boy to Tucson. Has no offensive game but is a killer on defense. A year off to get shots up and learning MORE defense under Miller? C'mon man

On 1290 yesterday Mike Luke said something like 3 guys on the Crystal Ball (including Gershon I think?) predicted Nico Mannion to Arizona in the last couple days.
