Young is a 6-2, 209 (+14 since signing), Freshman safety from Foster HS, Richmond, TX. Last year he had 51 tackles (3 for a loss), 4 interceptions, 6 break-ups, and 2 forced fumbles. Here's Brandon Combs', AZ Desert Swarm, thoughts on Young from signing day:
Young is one of the Freshman I have heard frequently mentioned as ready to play this year. You'll have to pay attention to see if he is in a game, since we already have Troy and Scottie Young as defensive backs.Young is a nightmare for opposing offenses. He has great instincts and is able to react quickly to what the offense is doing. He has a knack for cutting inside the receiver to disrupt the pass or pick off the quarterback. He will definitely challenge for playing time in his freshman year.
41.3 was Arizona's average points scored per game last year. That led the league and was 5th in the nation. Unfortunately, our scoriing was balanced out by our defense and punting game.
