General Discussion

Post by Longhorned »

When this site becomes Beardown.com in the midst of a signature season for Arizona Basketball, I know with all the blood in my veins, and with allllllllllll the gravy in my brains, that this General Discussion board will be something to behold.

We've held the fort. To make do with less, we've widened the hole in the dike to expand the political divide for artificial conflict-driven discussion in the board below.

We've discussed our narrow and uninformed musical tastes and otiose Netflix streaming in the Media board until we were purple in the gullet.

When this site goes public, there will be an influx, and droplets from that influx will trickle down to General Discussion. Some experts argue that as much as 0.8% of new posters to this site will find their way down to General Discussion. One pundit predicted that even Beach Cat 97 will finally learn that we've been making fun of him down here for the past 10 years. And there's not a single poster here who remembers the Goazcats General Discussion during the final elite years of Coach Olson-led Arizona Basketball (through 2005) who doesn't doubt that this place is going to get weird.

Are you pumped? Are you PUMPED?!!!

I'm not going to get my hopes up. Word is that the influx of new posters will be of the 2*/3* variety.

Can I just say that I'm re-watching the 1997 National Championship game for the 209th time, and this game just went to overtime? Fuck! I thought we were in control in the second half.

My cousin agrees with you. He's got this heavy (I think cast iron?) relief (I think that's what it's called) of Grant.

Offered to buy it numerous times just cause it's something I've never seen before and I think it looks cool (I think it originally hung on a building somewhere, has 4 bolt holes), but he won't sell it for any reasonable price
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

I did a book report on some kind of biography of Grant my sophomore year of high school. I got a C+.

Grant is now actually buried in Grant's tomb.

Awful president though.

No one gets buried in a tomb.

And he'd have been a better president and general if his PTSD didn't cause him to drink so heavily.

Which ironically is the same reason I'm such a shitty fan. UA Football has left me shell shocked and incapable of living without the crutch of alcohol.

Literally asked the very same question to my GF when I was reading this.

She goes, "Yah, probably". I was all like, "Why have you not purchased these for me yet?"

I'm just wondering why the Washington Generals only won 6 times in over 13,000 contests against the Harlem Globetrotters. Even if you're deliberate trying to lose, isn't that almost impossible?
But in my book, you gotta get to White Castle before the weirdos show up!

It's not about getting highly rated posters, it's about getting the right posters.

Exactly. We need to fill needs. For instance, we're a heavy on the testosterone. More of that is like coals to Newcastle (look it up).

We need women. Period. But preferably not while they're ... oh, shit. Never mind.

That's in D? All I know is I keep getting stuck in the terminal without the Cousin's. I love those sandwiches. Even the little Austin airport has a decent barbecue place.

But not if everyone bakes a cake every day!

You've got to put... that... cake in the oven!
Get... that... batter ready for some lovin'!
Why just wait for a neighbor or your mother
To bake up one for us to share with one another?
But if you... mix... that... mix
We'll all get... our... fix
Every daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Thank you! Aw. Thank you! Thank you in the back row!
