Garic Wharton
Daniel Berk @DSBerk
WR Garic Wharton no longer with #ArizonaWildcats program. Could play somewhere else right away if he wanted. Just graduated.
I have zero clue how to embed tweets here.

Re: Garic Wharton
Crap, really? I liked Wharton.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: Garic Wharton
what? well that sucks. we're fine at the position but he probably would've been one of the top 3-4 receivers.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: Garic Wharton
Wow. I want to hear new recruit news in June not graduated seniors leaving. Would love to hear the honest reason for him leaving.

Re: Garic Wharton
My guess was that the depth chart was going to be tough to crack. It's definitely a bummer, enjoyed watching him play.

Austin Hill, Nate Phillips, Semaji Grant, Davonte Neal, Cayleb Jones, Trey Griffey, Cameron Denson. I could keep going if you need me to.ANGCatFan wrote:Would love to hear the honest reason for him leaving.

if he was going to be one of the top 3-4 receivers I doubt he would have left. no clue why he left, but a good assumption is playing time.ASUHATER! wrote:what? well that sucks. we're fine at the position but he probably would've been one of the top 3-4 receivers.

Re: Garic Wharton
Would have preferred that he stayed, but barring a rash of injuries, I have a hard time thinking he'll be missed.
Re: Garic Wharton
The writing was on the wall with this one. Really no surprise at all.

Re: Garic Wharton
95% of the time, when a player transfers, it's due to (real or perceived) lack of playing time.
And when a player comes to the UA as a fresh, graduates from the UofA, then he is always a cat, regardless of where he plays out the string. Good luck Garic!!

Re: Garic Wharton
All wheels and bricks for hands sometimes leaves a receiver in the dust. I hope the best for him.

Best of luck to Garic exploiting that grad transfer rule for all it's worth. Hope that means better things for our still-deep WR corps.

Re: Garic Wharton
I guess it's safe to say this wasn't a pit stop for Garic though.
Re: Garic Wharton
He's got insane wheels and can run with anyone; he'll get on somewhere. He was going to have a hard time cracking the rotation this year but he's given us some good memories.

4.3 speed with 5.2 hands...
Re: Garic Wharton
Good article at sbnation on Wharton and our receivers. http://www.azdesertswarm.com/football/2 ... or-ermisch
New info ( at least for me):
I talked to Wharton before the start of last season, and I got the sense that he was a guy who was always on the outside looking in when it came to the wide receivers. Before Anu Solomon showed up in the Old Pueblo, Wharton was the only Las Vegas guy, and he immediately reached out to Solomon when the young QB committed. I just got the impression that he never felt like he was fully immersed with the players here.

Where you came from should be something you get over after a semester or two. Seems odd that someone could still feel like an outsider after four years.
Now that I think about it, the only friends who talked about moving back home were Phoenix kids. The out of state students loved UofA.
