Learned it from you Chi! When basket cats went to vegas I said I couldn’t see them winning three straight nights when they would have to play UCLA and Oregon on consecutive nights. You said, “why not. Somebody will have to.” And low and behold!

Wondering what the line will be for UDub. I think we will start as a 3 point dog. With UDub losing at Furd we might be a slight favorite now

We got 13 votes in the coaches poll, good for #33. Beat UW and we might end up around #25.

Funny how the pollsters think. We are a yard away from maybe being 5-0. We beat Tech with their first string QB who just beat #21 Okie St. We beat CU on the road who beat top 20 ASSU at their house.

Not saying we are a top 25 team but you could make the case they maybe we should be. Better for us that we are still under that radar

Refreshingly weird to be 4-1. Didn't get to watch cause Pac 12 network. I'm guessing the game plan was good and the execution kept up with a Buffalo passing attacked expected to give us a lot of headaches.

Looking ahead to Washington, they are underachieving and what killed them against Stanford was the TOP. If we can sustain drives against the Huskies D than the 4-1 Wildcats will control an opponent that, to start the season, I didn't think we had a shot against.

Still in the 110s for scoring defense. Fun.

In all fairness, I think the defense has played better. Going from terrible to below average is about the best we can hope for. Just need to upgrade our coaching staff and that won’t happen anytime soon.

Really disappointing that in a conference with so many middling football programs we're squarely amidst the steaming pile. Our crap stinking right alongside 8 or 9 other crappy programs. Arizona State and Cal falling apart. Stanford the worst they've been in 12 years. SC needing a two-possession comeback to beat hapless Colorado. UCLA laughable. Arizona wouldn't even need to be good, just be less crappy in order to gain a dependable foothold above the fray.

Any tailgaters noticing the extra police presence? Last season they started cracking down on open containers when you are not standing on grass.

The last 2 tailgates this season there are more police walking around and Im hearing they are not allowing people to leave the larger tailgates with open containers. They were standing outside the double decker red bus tailgate and told people to finish their drink or stay in the tailgate if they had an open can. The tailgate I go to which will remain unnamed has had to completely change the way they serve alcohol. Not sure what the issue is but I assume it has to do with alcohol sales in the stadium. I never see fights or anyone getting arrested. They are ruining the tradition

edit: Talked to a donor that said they got shutdown 2 hours before kickoff by police who claimed the AD asked them to come over. Profane music(it was radio edited), serving alcohol to minors(does not happen) and too many people not under their tents which is out of their control, plus there's no rule about how many people you can have. He also said the double decker bus tailgate got shutdown as well as the red army, the catbackers and another donor tailgate. Not sure whats happening

Just got back home to Mesa after that drubbing in Tucson.

Do the Yates haters still think that he was the problem on defense???

The problem is, and always was, the talent level. RichRod left the cupboard mostly bare and thus far Sumlin isn't filling it up (currently #11 in 2020 recruiting rankings in the PAC12). Unless Sumlin finds a way to turn this trend around AZ isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Not a single person here or anywhere else said Tate was the problem on defense. However, it's clear (to me anyway) that Tate isn't the best option at QB right now.

Fuck! I misread that. LOL! Sorry dmjcat. However, the talent level on that side of the ball is Yates fault.

Tate hates contact, so that might not work.

As for Yates being the problem on defense, I would say yes. The major part of his job is recruiting. If Yates and Sumlin can't close on recruits, then neither deserves coffee.

All he needs to do is take the ball carrier with him when he is running out of bounds for a loss.

There might be only 3 teams in the conference this year with more than 4 conference wins. And we're probably the worst of those 9 teams. The PAC 12 and Arizona both suck hard.

Especially defense and special teams. After reviewing all the defensive stats we we're almost assuredly the worst power 5 conference defense in football.

Nah, don't jeopardize basketball.

We need a solid coach. Coach after coach has shown Arizona is not going to be a recruiting force. We need someone who can coach up midlevel Pac talent, because I'm pretty sure that's all we're getting.

Wisconsin has 7 10+ win seasons with 5 division and 3 conference titles in the last decade and that's with averaging the 41st ranked recruiting class in that decade. The highest ranked class they've had in recent memory is #29 nationally. Recruiting well is still the best way to win, but having the right coaches and system is just as important.
