oooooo! That's like how in Philly you pay extra for sharp provolone. They call it "old fashioned." It's worth it.

Since we don't eat mammals anymore, we just get cheese pizzas for our emergency pizza nights and then I cut up some black olives and mushrooms to put on before cooking them.... slightly more edible.Longhorned wrote:How many? We're all about to stop eat mammals. Any wisdom is appreciated. I'm going to start doing what I've always said I'd do: buy the best produce in the store and figure out the meals around that. But honestly, I enjoy fake ground beef.Alieberman wrote:Since we don't eat mammals anymore, we just get cheese pizzas for our emergency pizza nights and then I cut up some black olives and mushrooms to put on before cooking them.... slightly more edible.Longhorned wrote:How many? It’s good stuff. For many reasons I can’t purchase mass produced meat anymore. Sure I’ll have a steak and ribs now and again, but I’m gonna source the shit out of it.

Instead of our normal tacos I made nachos and they were fucking glorious. If I closed my eyes while I was chewing it was almost like I was at a bar during March Madness.

I just hate how much oil you have to use and how it stinks up the house. And good oil isn't particularly cheap. So I have deep fried stuff maybe 5 times in the last 10 years.

Picking up an order of chicken with cream sauce lasagna, flour, 'nduja, vodka sauce, pesto, pecorino romano, cherry peppers, guanciale and pancetta from Roma Imports tomorrow. Can't wait to make bucatini all'amatriciana next week.
We also ordered a pasta maker so will be churning our some ravioli soon. Can't wait!

When I volunteered at Caridad Community Kitchen, I sat in on a pasta class by a chef from Wildflower. We made it by hand and in a Kitchen Aid to make sheets. Add AP flour, eggs and mix with paddle for a minute or two and switch to dough hook, then roll out into sheets. Super easy.

Fiesta platter from Selena's Salvadoran in Tucson. Just inhaled a bean/cheese/chicharron and a revuelta pupusa, a ground beef pastelito, fried yuca, curtido slaw, and a chicken tamale steaming out of the banana leaf. Never had Central American/Salvadoran food before. So good. Way different than the Sonoran tamales I'm used to but goddamn I'm full now.

Re: Dinner Tonight
We had the most generic dinner imaginable.
Sautéed chicken breasts, Pasta-Roni Fettuccine Alfredo, Green Giant Steamables Mixed Veggies.
The kids abso-fucking-lutely went bananas for that bullshit. They asked for thirds.
Which, when taken in conjunction with their fucking terrible taste in music and movies, solidifies the fact that children are dumbfucks.

hey that was the kind of food I grew up on (that and hamburger helper, canned green beans and tuna noodle casserole) and now I have great taste in food. Pretty much was what any of us born before 1990 grew up on really.Chicat wrote:We had the most generic dinner imaginable.

My wife is an incredible cook. She makes stuff I’d go back to restaurants just to experience again. My kids on the other hand could not care less. They’d rather eat some bullshit that came out of a box and was tested on lab rats. Probably because the sodium and sugar content is enough to kill a grizzly bear.

Made a fusion, classic late night snack from my childhood tonight.
Olive oil and black pepper triscuit with Hormel turkey pepperoni and month old Safeway pre shredded mozzarella cheese. But to thiswas also topped with $5/jar fancy Italian cherry peppers and $17/lb imported pecorino romano.
Early 90s, lower middle class Midwestern raised food combined with modern sophistication for a toaster oven late night delight.

Everything is closed except WH Smith and Boots. All the hotels in the area are closed too. I was actually kinda ready for this. I brought some nuts and beef jerky from Sharjah. And I think I scoped out a double seat without an arm in between, so I may be able to find a place to kinda lay down.CalStateTempe wrote:lol I know that “Boots” as well.

Meanwhile, I’m loaning my phone charger to a dude and in a show of incredible gratefulness, he keeps picking his phone up and down while it charges and placing it on my iPad that is also charging. Thankfully I brought a bunch Clorox wipes to clean it after he’s done spreading his germs all over it. This guy is Pakistani. So basically every country is the worst. I wonder if the loud-talking American got the job as an Amazon Fulfillment Specialist?
