Cal Poly (not FBS obviously) is planning only 15% in person classes for Fall. That will probably be true for the entire CSU. Haven't heard about the UC yet, where sports are much more important revenue wise.
I don't expect any football this fall either, and I doubt many administrators and coaches do either. Even Sean Miller is spending his time playing Madden or some other football game I saw on social media.
Yea at this point I wouldn't count on college sports of any kind happening again until August 2021. With a possible exception for something like skiing or golf.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

That would be a no from me with a very good chance of no season happening.
That Scheer tweet is a bit sensationalistic, we're pausing because of the state of AZ as a whole, not due to the results we've seen as a department. 1 positive out of 83 tests is actually pretty good.
College football is still going to be very difficult to make happen, but when I see that tweet, I interpret it as problems with our athletes.
But as long as every person in the workouts is negative and isolated, what harm is there in working out?

Just my judgment, but I think it makes a mockery of the ideas of “student-athletes” and/or “essential” businesses. Not a single college athlete should be on campus before students, in general, are able to be safely on campus.
Intercollegiate college sports should rightly be respected and nurtured, but also recognized as low priorities when regarding the overall operation of, and priorities for, the university.

Just seems the easiest answer is to go conference only but move all sports and maybe even school to a January 2022 start. Granted it puts pressure on facilities but maybe the local city buildings can help

Without football this year there will be no college sports in the next few years except Men's basketball and some fill in women's sports to fulfill Title IX requirements.
Football in spring is a really bad idea for many reasons.

Such as? I doubt we have many fans in the seats due to distancing and if its a TV revenue thing then what kind of message does that send.

1-Either have to push back the regular 2021 season due to not enough time off between end of 2020 season and start of 2021 season or you will have tons of injuries in the 2021 season.
2-TV networks will pay less because they already have programming in Spring 2021.
3-Any NFL prospects will not play in the spring
4-The season would be played during the height of cold and flu season
5-No guarantee of a vaccine by January 2021
6-No guarantee that the virus will be more controlled by January 2021

These moves give each conference more power for decisions. The best course of action is to continue to prepare for the season starting in September now with 10 conference games and keeping all options open but on track until early August when a decision will actually need to be made.

2-7 is a possibility also because we might have a chance against a superior ASU team and program.
We suck.
They'd probably make it an 11 game full round robin. Which means we go like 3-8 maybe

Not sure it matters as we won’t have the dough to can his a$$ anyway. Might as well let his contract run the course and tell recruits we are behind him and maybe he gets some good talent that the next coach can develop

Not everything is the school, coaches or programs fault. Shit just happens sometimes and the guy wasn't forced out. He was going to be a 4 year starter for petes sake.......
Young people wake everyday and think of confounding, dumbass things to do with their lives. That's life and life goes on!
Tony fields is not going to find a better opportunity at any program than he had right here in Tucson as a 3 year starter or prepare him better for an NFL tryout. Period.
If he no longer wants to play for this program then see ya. Best of luck.

Really? Heh... I guess we will see.

IMO what's the difference in playing LB'r here or some place else. I don't see a big difference. He already plays on the biggest stage in a major conference. He's a LB'r here, he'll be LB'r some place else.
If he no-longer likes the school, coaches or Tucson then by all means, go find you're mojo in some other location. Either way, it is what it is. I won't lose any sleep over it.
Hell I'll be amazed if even one football game is played this year anyway.

I guess it really depends on where he ends up. Do I think he will end up at a high D1 lvl school? No, but if he does the coaching will likely be much better. However, his inflated stats (playing behind a horrendous DL) and number of snaps played will go way down. Is that really better for him?
At this point I basically don't care if there's football this year. We suck and aren't getting better and I've slowly lost motivation to care or attend games since the end if the RRod era. Oh well.
The entire D1 college athletics system needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt anyway.

If anything the shame of it all is this just gives the Sumlin regime another guaranteed year regardless of results.

Why rebuild it???
