What is going on with that shitty headline?
She didn’t “engage in sexual relations”. She raped a 12-year-old. Full fucking stop.

Kelly Preston passing at 57 from breast cancer is tough to hear. Just always liked her. Actually knew someone who had met her and said she was stunningly gorgeous and equally as nice. 2 year battle, she must have had it pretty bad

That one hits hard. Mythbusters is one of my favorite shows of all time and Grant always seemed like a great guy.

Damn. I was just reading some stuff by him this week. What a string and great man. Insane to think of what he accomplished and went through at such a young age. Also reminds you how close in time we really are. He was only 80 and was an adult doing sit ins and protests against fucking segregation and lynchings. This isn't long ago. RIP

I don't mind following this thread. Yet, I was always told you can gauge the age of a person by how much the person follows the obituaries. I find that to be true. Perhaps because deaths invoke memories.

Helen Reddy died at 78. For all you young-uns out there: she had nothing to do with reddit.

Former pitcher Bob Gibson passed away from cancer.

Lou hit the winning homer of the 65 World Series
Re: RIP Notable Figures
As a Cardinal fan, losing Gibby really hurts. To lose him and Lou Brock in like the last month, wow.
Gibson was so tough that Clemente actually broke his leg with a line drive yet Gibson faced three more hitters until he had to come out.
He pitched his best in the World Series to. In 64 he won 3 games and went 8, 10 and 9 innings and came back on two days rest to win game 7. Who does that? The day he struck out 17 tigers was amazing. Never thought he would get beat in game 7 that year but he did

Micky Lolich - in 1968 - against the Cardinals. Lolich won all three of his games - complete games, and was on 2 days rest for game 7.
He struck out 17 Tigers in the first game, and its a great record that won't be beaten anytime soon. But he also allowed 5 hits and he needed that superhuman performance to keep Detroit from scoring - Detroit was an offensive juggernaut and Gibson really shut them down that day.The day he struck out 17 tigers was amazing. Never thought he would get beat in game 7 that year but he did
But he couldn't repeat it in Game 7, the Tigers got 4 runs on 8 hits, while Micky Lolich tied up the Cardinals in knots.
Gibson was an all time great, an 'immortal' if you will. But in the 1968 series Micky Lolich was the better pitcher - he even helped himself out with a home run. Unfortunately for Detroit's two greats that year (Lolich and Denny McClain), they didn't have any other pitchers that could reliably win games and the Tigers pitched them way too much and turned their arms to rubber. Fortunately the Tigers had ample offensive capability to make up for the lack of a real 3rd or 4th starter. McClain never really recovered from that over use, he was rubber in the Series, and a couple of years later he was in jail on drug and embezzlement offenses. Lolich's career wins totals was depressed because he had a reputation for wanting to go complete games, but the Tigers didn't always have the fire power to back him up. But to this day, Lolich has the 2nd highest strikeout total of any left hander.
McClain once said that he wouldn't trade 1 Bob Gibson for 15 Micky Lolichs. McClain had a big mouth, but clearly he had a lot of respect for the guy that beat him twice in that Series.
