JFC - it's hotter than the devil's taint up here.
It's fucking unbearable.
At least you have cooling. Summer finally started out here after being in the 70's for months on end. 92 at my house now and the fans are going.
Two weeks ago, driving from Bakersfield to Paso Robles, I didn't see a single non-farm green growing thing other than oak trees. A fire in your country would be a holocaust.
That's a miserable trip if you took the 41/46. Did you go through Santa Maria on the 166 then the 101 up to Paso? That's not too bad. That was my commute, Santa Maria to San Luis Obispo. There isn't one finer with better scenery. Ocean, hills, vineyards, pastoral ranches and so on.

There was two today near here.

We went Barstow>Arvin>bypassed Bakersfield on the 5>46, and yeah it was otherworldly weird. Speaking of weird, right now it's 104 in Sedona and 102 in T-town.

106 in Tucson as far as I can tell. It's been like 105-110 for like 10 days straight in Tucson. Just ridiculous heat and no storms. Is this Phoenix? Ain't supposed to be like this here

Just had a thunder and lightning storm here in the central coast. I see lightning maybe once every 3 or 4 years here. All kinds of lightning fires, one 2 blocks from my house.

Rained for maybe 10 minutes.

No relief in sight either. Still forecasted to be about 107 every day with almost no chance of rain the rest of August.

Going to be the norm from now on in Phoenix. Going to be 100+ from mid April to mid October with 35-50 days over 110 every year.

That's one of the reasons we moved from Arizona. We just couldn't stand the summers anymore. We'll see how long we survive the Idaho winters but I know they are becoming more mild.

If Tucson felt too much like hell last month, there’s a reason. Temperatures set a string of records as the sun bore down mercilessly and the monsoon went AWOL.

July 2020 was not only Tucson’s hottest July on record, it was the city’s hottest month in the 125 years that records have been kept.

Last month’s average temperature of 91.5 degrees was 4.5 degrees above normal, and 0.9 of a degree above the previously hottest month on record, July 2005, the National Weather Service says. In all, city temperatures broke seven records last month and tied seven others.

That came two months after May became Tucson’s hottest May on record, with an average temperature of 80.7 degrees, scoring nearly 10 degrees above the normal May average. An additional 12 temperature records either fell or were tied that month.

May through July 2020 was also the hottest three-month period on record. (June was only the 17th warmest June on record.)

Tucson’s monsoon has also been dismal, with 0.66 of an inch of rain officially recorded since the June 15 start of the season — representing the fourth-driest monsoon on record as of last week.

A normal monsoon would have produced 2.91 inches of rain by this time, said John Glueck, a National Weather Service senior metereologist.

After being like 90 degrees and nice in Tucson the next couple days will be like 105-108 and record heat. But thankfully after this weekend it looks to be pretty much over for the 100+ temps

So in Denver it's forecast to be 97-98 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, 91 on Monday and....37 for a high on Tuesday. Temperature is supposed to drop from 91 to around freezing in like 12 hours between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning.

Yup least it makes it feel like winter is on the horizon. Still going to be like 97-100 degrees every day the next 2 weeks but being 63 in the morning gives some hope. I've actually kept my windows open the last 2 nights
