Has there ever been a darker time for Arizona sports?
Seems like an appropriate thread. Illinois, Mackovich, FBI/Book investigation, 2020 loss to ASU...what is just THE WORST? Now?

Can't think of any.
When the football program was going through the Tony Mason slush fund, the basketball program was doing well under Fred Snowden.
When the basketball program was going through the Snowden/Lindsey*/Olson transition, the football team under Larry Smith was doing well.
When the Mackovic* football disaster happened, the basketball program still had Lute.

I'd only offer the day Button Salmon died, but I wasn't alive then.
I have no doubt if he were alive and playing today, he'd already have entered the transfer portal.

I mean we still have baseball, softball and Women's basketball as really good teams right now. But the overall athletic department is sick and dying and not in good shape

Arizona football is dead to me forever.

Football is my favorite sport. At the moment I'm further down than I was towards the end of the Mackovic era.

Spring semester of '83 we still had Ben Lindsey as hoops coach and were about to be put on probation in football for 2 years. The only good news is we were about to hire Lute.Merkin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:28 am Can't think of any.
