It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Re: (M) Game 9, Arizona at Washington (2020-2021)
Holy shit, Washington is really bad. This should be a good test of whether this team can win on the road when they should.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

So, was it yesterday, December 30? Or is it Friday, January 1, 2021? Or is it neither?

If we can cleanly get the entry pass into Tubellis in the middle of the zone AND AT can hit the 10 foot jumper we will be fine.

UW is sure making some contested and acrobatic shots. The Cats defense is playing high pressure defense. It's a good start for the Cats who are playing at a high level.

Great way to beat the UDub zone, and working so far.dmjcat wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:00 pm If we can cleanly get the entry pass into Tubellis in the middle of the zone AND AT can hit the 10 foot jumper we will be fine.

Imagine the score if the Cats didn't miss all the layups.

And hate to say it, but the refs are really letting them play for once.

Is there a better trifecta of guards in the country than Arizona? All of them are blazing fast, all of them can pass, and all of them can shoot. And I haven't mentioned the defense yet.

14 point lead at the half and the game wasn't really even this close. Too many missed bunnies and the Cats missed their first 6 FT. They look good but definitely leave room for improvement.

I don't see the zone defense being a problem for the Cats this season. We should exploit almost every team trying to use it.

We have a high ceiling. For a 2nd road game, just getting a solid win is good. So far, it's looking like a solid effort.Catintheheat wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:52 pm 14 point lead at the half and the game wasn't really even this close. Right now I think the Cats are a top 25 team, but will take a long time to get the credit, especially since Pac-12 competition isn't that good compared to other power conferences.Spaceman Spiff wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 7:24 pmWe have a high ceiling. I like 25 pts off the bench. Deep team. We need to keep our concentration and hit our free throws. Defense look pretty good but hard to tell against the weakest offense in the PAC-12.

I'm not sure we'll ever get top 25 votes with the tourney ban. But it doesn't matter. This team is about building, and we can build a good one.Catintheheat wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 7:27 pmRight now I think the Cats are a top 25 team, but will take a long time to get the credit, especially since Pac-12 competition isn't that good compared to other power conferences.Spaceman Spiff wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 7:24 pmWe have a high ceiling. Haha. I wish. Getting too old to drink too much. Also I'm getting over COVID-19. It gets boring not being able to leave the house. Yet my symptoms are almost gone now. I had excellent care. I feel fortunate and grateful.Postmaster wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 7:30 pmI figured you might have started drinking at noon
I drink gin and Flavored seltzer water or flavored sparking water. I will have a couple after the game.

Look, I know UW is bad, but I still like that we showed up and made them look bad.
Now it's just learning time.

UW is bad. But it is good to see that we took care of business.
Re: (M) Game 9, Arizona at Washington (2020-2021)
Glad for the win but shooting 40% fg and high 50's in ft is not going to win competitive games. We had one guy to stop he will leave with 20+. Need better execution but it is way early.

I would like to see those stats be better, but we also doubled them up in rebounds, assists and held them to 31% fg% and 16% from 3.TheCat wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 7:52 pm Glad for the win but shooting 40% fg and high 50's in ft is not going to win competitive games. It's ok if not everything fires at once. I actually prefer that we kicked ass in effort areas and were a bit behind in skill areas.

Who knows how mentally sharp they were after the ban announcement?
Like SS said, the effort was there even if execution wasn’t.
