He didn't say at an event, he said it's the first time he's seen the football team at Bear Down Friday.

I get that falls on scumlin, but you’d think the AD might have told him to get involved in stuff like this.

Well, yeah. When you hire someone, there should be some specific performance clauses in the contract beyond just showing up for the radio show you're paid for. Fisch has been terrific at everything he's done. To be clear, he's just smartly doing everything he can think of to generate crowd support and help the team win, as Larry Smith and Lute did in their early years. You can't change somebody's bad attitude or personality contractually, but I think Robbins was so desperate to "win the press conference" with the former Houston and Texas A&M coach that he gave him anything he wanted. And all he wanted was to cash three years worth of checks and hang up his whistle. Frankly, I think RichRod was also given too much latitude. It's not the "your coach's name here" or "your president/AD's names here" football program. It belongs to alumni, students, and fans, and there are some appropriate expectations of continuity and community engagement.
