Re: 2021 MLB Season Thread
My buddy decided out of the blue to go this morning. Took $4k in cash with him and he’s hoping someone will sell him a ticket.
Which I can understand if this was planned to be a one time thing, but I get the feeling MLB will make this like the outdoor NHL games and before you know it there will be like 6 every season.

Great game. Hopefully not too many people turned it off before the 9th.

Re: 2021 MLB Season Thread
One of the cooler things I've seen a sports league do in a while. That was the 1st time I've watched a regular season MLB game, not involving teams I cheer for, from start to finish in a very long time.

Way too soon...
It sure was nice of Manfred to bust out the juiced balls last night.

Re: 2021 MLB Season Thread
I don't think they should try to duplicate but the MLB (and other professional sports) should consider doing games in small towns across America. Being a West Coast City elitist, I can even admit that a lot of these small town folks are left out of all the excitement. It may actually bring a few of these fans back to understanding these athletes rather than the villains they are made out to be on Fox News to these small towns.

BTW, while this game was in a small town they were the most expensive tickets ever for a regular season game. Most of the fans in attendance
I'm sure can be classified as elite if they are plunking down $1,500 and up for a ticket.
Small town baseball has a name. It's called the Minor Leagues.

Am I the only person who doesn't care for "Field of Dreams"? I can put in "Post Your Unpopular Opinions" if that's politicial.

Owns the team.
Has gobs of money.
Hires the people.
Mean tweets instead of actually doing anything.

Get better hitters dumb shit.
Beside Alonzo and sometimes Conforto nobody in their line-up scares you. Yes Lindor is out but other teams have injuries too.

The Orioles have lost 19 games in a row.
I mean… that’s gotta be really hard to do, right?

Re: 2021 MLB Season Thread
I believe the Cubs bailed at the right time. A lot of high priced talent that didn't provide a balanced offense and clutch team. I don't like what they have done to the pitching staff recently, especially letting Darvish go. Yet they have a lot of young talent now. For the rest of the season I would be experimenting with everyone. Sometimes I wonder if the very high salaries are worth it. The main reason is baseball is more of a team sport. You only bat 1 time out of 9 batters. Starters pitch every 5 games on average. And they aren't even as important now that teams want pitchers at their peak, so starters are pitching under 7 innings as a standard. Relievers are more important now. Teams need far more quality relievers than in the past. Talent has to be balanced with maximizing value among the active roster. Baseball is a different game in strategy than it was 20 years ago.

My only true hope is that the White Sox kick the ever-loving shit out of the Houston Asterisks.

TBS doesn’t have the strike zone box, and the stat box doesn’t show pitch speed and type.
Terrible.

It's just as hard to get all your picks wrong as it is to get them all correct so Ben has that going for him.

MLB immediately disputed TFG’s statement. They said he reached out to them.

A team a root for actually won something! I can't believe it. I no longer have to say the last time any of my teams won was UofA basketball in 1997.

And MLB, after taking away the all-star game from Atlanta for political reasons, has to now hand Atlanta the WS trophy. Karma is a bitch.

Another pitcher the D-Backs had who went elsewhere and won a Cy Young (Scherzer, Bauer).
