It's five games in and I'm still trying to figure out Fisch's offensive philosophy.
In the NFL you have players with the mental and physical ability to change the fundamentals of what you do week-to-week to counteract what the defense throws at you on Sunday.
In college, it’s way more about having the talent and physical ability to impose your will on the opponent no matter what they play against you.
If Jedd Lasso thinks he can switch up his offense every week to take advantage of the perceived weaknesses of his opponents’ defenses, he obviously doesn’t know his own personnel or the college game well at all.
Establish your identity. Then be that team until you start kicking everyone’s ass.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
It's probably good that I showed up for the game and then consequently can't remember almost any of it. I went a little overboard at the tailgate and I was convinced to buy a ticket at 630 pm...
I think we have two chances to end the streak this year. One is this week and we shall see. I would have been more confident if our QB was not injured. Bear Down.
I haven't seen a team this hopeless since the Paul Wulff years at Washington State. And even they won games here and there. The Washington Huskies 0-12 team in 2008 kinda felt like a long time coming and at least that came at the end of a coaching tenure. Not the beginning.

Speaking of bright side... it may have a taken a couple of injuries but now there is no doubt who our starting QB is now!
Well UConn won and UNLV is up so we are still in our own little survival pool.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

That's right! No more controversy!
See? Stoicism is the way.

I still think we're a serviceable QB away from being a perfectly mediocre football team which was the goal for most Arizona fans this season.
I think McCloud was that guy and it took Fisch 4 games to figure it out. That's on him.

You have a valid point that this staff might have a problem identifying talent on this team. The Markoff/John combo was very good and I think this was the first game we saw it.

McCloud would not have lost to NAU, that I am convinced.
Wow!!! the season premiere of HBO’s “Succession” referenced the U of A’s football program!!!!

Maybe we have different thoughts on what is considered mediocre but I would still consider a team that wins 2-3 games as terrible. Maybe those wins would at least provide some hope though.

The defense is 100 yards a game and 1 yard per carry better than the previous 2 years. With McCloud we showed we could move the ball pretty well. I just think we're in a bit better shape than most people think. With McCloud coming back and Fifita coming in we should be OK at QB. Hopefully we land another recruit by then. There are coaching issues that need to be cleaned up for sure. Special teams need work. I think Fisch's play calling has gone down hill.

And that combo was only really used on one drive (granted I turned it off after 21 points in 5 minutes) and was not used when it made the most sense on the one yard line. That is why I have little hope that no matter what personnel we have we will always underperform as long as Fisch is making calls. Just listening to him talk about football you can tell he has no idea about strategy, a guy who has no idea about the topic he is speaking will generally use specifics to try and fool the audience into thinking he has a clue which he does all the time ("we ran it on 3rd and 5 at the 35 yard line", "We called a pass with 2:35 left in the quarter").
Anyone who has watched this offense and play calling should have zero faith. When you hire an "offensive" coach who does not know how to run an offense thats a bad combo. Look back to his last stops as a coach with a say in the teams offense and it is a giant list of failures that somehow got him where he is now.

I heard he made the William team, it was the Mary part he screwed up...
William and Mary might smoke us if we played this weekend.

Winger over at TOS said he has zero faith in this staff.
Is Winger really connected or something? I'm not sure how to take this.
He used to be but now he’s just another poster who would rather hangout on Scheer’s site than here. Doesn’t seem like his insider is still around the athletic department.
I give all the credit in the world to the kids on this team who are still busting their asses every day in practice. I know they have to be hurt, sore, exhausted, and tired as fuck of losing, and I would not blame them for giving up.
To all those players still giving 100%, Bear Down! You’re Wildcats for life. Be proud of the effort and sacrifice you’ve made. I just wish you were on a better team.

Fucking-A right Chi...I'm with you. Hats off to the players who are fighting hard every day to try and get us out of this mess. They deserve much better so I will support them each and every week!
