2022 Transfer Portal

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
There was an AZ Qb kid who was at Ohio St that entered the portal yesterday. I would give a hard pass to Rattler and his ego but maybe this other kid is worth a look

Man, that's a huge downgrade. Was he not very good at OU?

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
He was not bad just didn't build much off his good freshman season, Caleb Williams came in behind him and Wally Pipped him as he is a legit electric dual threat QB.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Has Jayden Daniels said he is leaving for sure? Otherwise Rattler would be back on the bench.

Jayden Daniels returning to ASU, so squelch the Rattler to ASU rumors.

I read Rattlers preferred destinations are 1. Oregon and 2. Arizona.

Saw that too, but thinking that he really meant ASU.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 12:09 pm I read Rattlers preferred destinations are 1. Oregon and 2. Arizona.

Both were a little underwhelming but with Berryhill gone, it will still hurt.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Wonder if he holds a grudge against UA and ASU for not offering him? NAU was his only instate offer.

Rattler to S Carolina.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Will Todd be okay with Antonio Pierce banging his wife?
Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
If my wife was pushing ASSU for our son I would have to really think about that.

Always knew how to take on a tight end coming across the middle.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
The transfer portal has destabilized college sports. Entire football rosters can be depleted over night.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Most certainly. No one is going to miss Casteel and Curry, 2 hot prospects that never panned out.
Wonder how many of UA's 12 will end up on mid-majors and FCS.
Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
If coaches can leave whenever, so should players. Too bad if some people think it's destabilizing
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
The issue is that with the current rules it’s hard to keep your roster at 85 scholarship players. Some rosters are down to 55 with 25 of those being incoming freshman that are not ready. It becomes a safety issue in some cases.
I agree players should be able to transfer and immediately have eligibility to play. But the NCAA needs to allow schools to replace this players one for one from the portal.
I think I read a stat that last year close to a 1000 players saw their athletic career end when no one picked them up

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
I thought I read somewhere that there are more kids in the portal than there are FBS roster spots available.
Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
That is right Greg. The NCAA has granted each team the ability to sign up to 7 kids from the portal to help both the teams and the kids in finding a spot on a roster

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
True, but the AD has to provide funding for those additional 7 players. With each football program reimbursing the school for 85 scholarships, and with the huge pandemic induced financial losses, not sure how many outside of the P5 schools will have enough funding for them.
Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Agreed Merk, just another reason for some of these kids to think twice before hitting the portal. I don’t think one of the 12 kids that left us has found a home yet

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
The funding for those 7 are already there. You only get 7 spots if 7 existing kids enter the portal.Merkin wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 1:26 pm True, but the AD has to provide funding for those additional 7 players. Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
How many of these kids get pushed out?
Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Hogwash. How is the transfer portal helping out the players?? 99% + of these kids will never sniff the league.
The primary goal of the vast majority of college athletes should be to get an education. School hopping does nothing to help the majority of these kids accomplish that. Kids need to commit to a school, not some coach (or in the case of asu, whomever is banging their mom)

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Oh OK. I was thinking of the additional year of eligibility given to athletes, with the AD having to pick up that cost.azgreg wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 1:35 pmThe funding for those 7 are already there. Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Not that shocking. There were rumors this was going to happen after Riley left.
I'm not shedding any tears for OU is they will just re-load.
Wonder what Spencer Rattler is thinking today?
