Corey lost me when he was dumbfounded that the Arizona reserves were shooting the ball with 1:30 left. Are they just supposed to take shot clock violations? Corey has always been brutally bad, and he said he would be announcing the Stanford game next week.
I thought he was trying to say that in his playing days Lute would have them run the shot clock down to the end before shooting.
As opposed to shooting with 20 seconds left.
According to Wikipedia she does womens play by play.
The inequality is real.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Just found out that was Brunson’s first play by play ever.
She was bad, but damn, I’ve been a clown on my first day at work too.
I hope she gets better…
Are you sure?
I know I’ve seen her before done by something.
I think she’s done color before, but this was first play by play.

Every commentator does that. Telling people the game is over isn’t great for ratings or their advertisers.

Especially when you can tell a game is over at halftime

Walton was fantastic tonight.
I know….I actually forgot ‘he’ was there and thought I was actually watching a basketball game with professional announcers instead of the stoned goofball he usually is! I don’t expect it to continue though……
Meanwhile I got texts from two non-Arizona fans about how terrible Walton was.

I love Walton sitting on a still with a monitor adjusted higher as well. Dude is like 6 feet tall sitting on that stool. Haha

Walton's performance as a commentator varies considerably with the quality of the contest in front of him - he remained on-task pretty well in both U of A./ucla games....

I saw that Vitale is steeping away for the season.
Something about resting his vocal cords.
That doesn’t sound too good.
So the downside of having sling and pac 12 and no cable is that I don't get games on the big networks, but I do get to listen to Brian Jefferies who is fantastic, my favorite radio guy.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

What are the big networks? I get Sling with the sports package and get all the ESPN channels. I don't get FS1 and 2, not sure what else I don't get but don't call them big networks.
The game today was OTA (over the air) so I just used an antenna to watch it.

Did you pull your old console Zenith with the bunny ears out of storage?

I get true HD OTA!!! And it doesn't lag like Sling does. Image was really sharp.
Those old analog antennas actually work better that you think they would with digital.

Fox, abc, cbs, nbc.
Since the feds made all the networks go digital, we have not been able to get any signal from any over the air network where I live. Tried signal boosters and all sorts of crap, they apparently put all the hardware on a tower south of ishpeming and there is a big ridge between us and there.
Another way the govt has made things better. No broadcast tv available for free in big Bay.

Whomever was with Casey Jacobsen last night was trash. Couldn’t get a play called correctly to save his life.
Awful.

Pasch went from a solid play by play guy, to a character “straight man” when he works with Walton. I used to enjoy his calls years ago, but now he baits Walton and then pretends he’s annoyed by it.
It sucks. Walton is fun when not with Pasch.

I kept telling my wife he is wrong. He couldn't even get who had the ball right. He SUCKED.

Exactly. Walton and Pasch try way to hard to be Walton and Pasch.

I feel like Walton is always Walton. He does same things with Roxy or whomever, but someone at espn is encouraging the schtick of Walton and Pasch.

I feel like Pasch started to believe that people were tuning in to hear him. And it made him lazy.
Or maybe he was always lazy. But for fuck’s sake just guide people through the game. Tell them what to look out for and what they may have missed. And holy shit please remember, and this goes for everyone at ESPN, that television is a visual medium. There’s no need to verbally describe in minute detail what’s right in front of my eyes.
