Re: Fuck asu
I have no idea. I thought it might have been when ASU had some big event happen then, but nothing.
Tempe Normal School of Arizona (1889–1903), Tempe Normal School (1903–1925), Tempe State Teachers College (1925–1929), Arizona State Teachers College (1929–1945), Arizona State College (1945–1958) and, by a 2–1 margin of the state's voters, Arizona State University in 1958.

Re: Fuck asu
Having attended 23 Arizona/ASU football games (including my share in Tempe), I can state authoritatively that ASU fans range from paranoids staring nervously out of the corners of their eyes to loud-mouthed fall-down-drunk assholes who lack the judgment or self-control of a cocker spaniel. Over the years, I've interacted amicably with fans from many schools, notably Oregon St, Colorado, USC, California, and Washington. Not as good with Oregon, Iowa, and Ohio St. But, ASU is in a league of its own, as reflected by the title of this thread. That is all.

Even spaniels are higher life forms than ASU fans. I prefer to compare ASU fans to hyenas on crack.TheCatInTheHat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 11:36 am Having attended 23 Arizona/ASU football games (including my share in Tempe), I can state authoritatively that ASU fans range from paranoids staring nervously out of the corners of their eyes to loud-mouthed fall-down-drunk assholes who lack the judgment or self-control of a cocker spaniel. He gets to stay based on beating a one win team. That will work, I guess, until NCAA sanctions are imposed.

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Wow, thanks for the tweet posts dm. Overdue for updates into the investigation.
"AD officials have privately expressed concern to colleagues and others about the serious nature and far-reaching implications of the case ASU is facing, which is expected to include Level I violations in a Notice of Allegations by the NCAA this year."

Yeah, how you going to get rid of FOUR assistants for the same thing but not the guys who were in charge of them and we’re definitely doing the same dirty shit??gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:51 am Everyone takes the fall for the man in charge. Must be a great guy to work for.
Herm is so pious and righteous that he’ll push you onto the sword while quoting scripture. He’s the perfect Scum Devil.

I used to kind of like Herm when we got the great sound bites when he was an NFL coach. Seemed like a good guy.
Turns out he's a POS just like Todd Graham.
Oh, and what 97 said.

Arizona State is no stranger to major violations, either.
In fact, the Sun Devils are one case away from a place of prominence in the NCAA’s Pantheon of Infractions Ignominy.
Southern Methodist has been guilty of 10 major infractions cases over the history of its athletic department (across all sports), according to the NCAA database.
Arizona State is tied for second place with Texas A&M — each school has nine major infractions cases to its name.
If the current investigation determines major violations occurred, and all indications point to that, the Sun Devils would pull even with SMU for the highest number in NCAA history.
Talk about company you don’t want to keep.

Recent activity in the ASU football program has reignited talk of Edwards potentially being fired.
Four assistant coaches at ASU have now lost their jobs as a result of the NCAA's investigation into recruiting violations in Tempe and several writers are once again calling for Edwards to be fired as coach as the overseer of the Arizona State program.
The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers is among those writers.
He recently called for Edwards, as well as recruiting coordinator Antonio Pierce, to be ousted in Tempe.
He wrote: "What’s not clear is why Antonio Pierce, the program’s recruiting coordinator, is still employed. And head coach Herm Edwards, for that matter. ASU President Michael Crow should direct Athletic Director Ray Anderson to clean house in the football program. And if Anderson won’t fire Edwards, his old friend, then he needs to go, too. … ASU, which markets itself as a leader in innovation, refuses to take bold steps to fix its football program. It continues to employ the assistant who coordinated recruiting when recruiting rules were violated. And it continues to employ the head coach who supervised the recruiting coordinator and the four departed assistants connected to the scandal. That’s not innovation. That’s dereliction."

Tonio saw the allegations in the Brian Flores lawsuit and was like “Now that’s the kind of corruption I can fuck with!”

We are talking in my office today. There have been tons of schools caught in various allegations, including ourselves, but none of them are as funny as this scandal.

Nice call for Pierce to resign on National Signing Day. Wonder how many of those recruits and transfers committed to play for him?

Re: Fuck asu
Scrapping the bottom of the barrel:
"UNLV was 2-10 last season and 0-6 in the previous year while Thomas was its offensive coordinator. The Rebels were No. 119 out of 130 Division I teams last season in total offense at 312.2 yards per game and tied for No. 111 in scoring offense. They struggled to run the ball, ranking No. 121 with 3.2 yards-per-run and No. 119 in rushing yards per game at 101.6 in FBS head-to-head matchups, according to TeamRankings.com. About the only area where they were even moderately successful on offense was in red zone success rate, where they were No. 28 in games with two FBS teams."
