I think so, especially this late in the season…

6 of the top 10 have lost in the same day 6 times, never 7. Don't know if 6 of the 10 were ever 1-6.
Probly not.
Craziest day ever.
Bet Nova is glad they didn't play.
The other thing is, it was so crazy, I'm not sure much changes, for the top 4 at least

Bracketology: How Saturday's top-10 college basketball chaos impacts the 2022 NCAA tournament bracket
The final Saturday in February turned out to be a historic day in college basketball. Each of the top six teams in the AP Top 25 lost, the first time that has ever happened on a single day in the history of the poll. A total of seven members of the AP top 10 fell, also a single-day record.
What does it mean from a Bracketology perspective? Well, imagine an NFL weekend in which every game ends in a tie. No team would lose or gain an inch in the standings. That's what happened in college basketball on Saturday.
Answering the most pertinent questions:
Who were the projected No. 1 seeds after the dust settled on Saturday, and why?
We ended almost exactly where we started. The top three teams on the morning seed list -- Gonzaga, Arizona and Kansas -- all lost major road games in hostile environments. Three of the teams in the best position to supplant them -- Kentucky, Purdue and Texas Tech -- suffered the same fate. At the end of the carnage, Baylor was the only top-10 team to improve its seed. The Bears began the day sixth overall and ended up fourth overall. That gives the defending NCAA champions the final 1-seed. Just don't write it in ink. Baylor visits Texas on Big Monday.

Oh man, my take was completely wrong, I guess nothing much changed, in the top 4, except Baylor bumped Auburn, Lunardi said it, we ended almost exactly where we started.

Yeah one bad day for the top 6 in the ap doesn't negate the season as a whole as the committee has said repeatedly the whole season matters.
I don't see how Baylor jumps Kansas when Kansas already beat them once (how does 1 win outweigh the Kansas win earlier?) and they have a 1 game lead over Baylor in the conference race.
Auburn also currently has a 1 game lead over Kentucky, who are tied with Arkansas. And a conference winner should get it imo (auburn over Baylor).
I still think the #1 seeds are Gonzaga, Arizona, auburn, Kansas in some order after the bloodshed on Saturday. It helps that we lost when everyone else did.

If Baylor does jump into the 1 seed line, they're pretty much getting the #1 seed in the South Region. While Gonzaga taking a loss opens up the West #1 seed a bit.RondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 9:32 am Yeah one bad day for the top 6 in the ap doesn't negate the season as a whole as the committee has said repeatedly the whole season matters.

This where taking the loss yesterday hurts, now Arizona doesn't fully control it's destiny. If Gonzaga holds on to the West #1, Arizona would get the short straw and have to go to the east with Duke or Kentucky.
Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I think when we get to the seeding day, it will be Gonzaga. Arizona, the SEC and Big 12 winner as the 1 seeds and then the Sec and Big 12 runners up and two’s along with the B1G winner and Duke

That's as good a guess as anyone can make right now, though it implies a LOT of outcomes going the way we expect. After yesterday, I'm less comfortable assuming all these high ranked teams will win out.

We get duke in the s-curve
Also Villanova as the 3rd seed and likely Texas as the 4th seed because providence and UCLA are a conference bracket obstacle with us and Texas and Texas tech would be an obstacle in the Gonzaga bracket

They're not going to put Texas and Texas tech in the same bracket either, Texas and UCLA would swap
Lunardi's S-Curve from my post above currently has our top 4 seeds as
N°1 Arizona
N°2 Duke
N°3 Villanova (might switch Tenn for Nova for geographic reasons)
N°4 Texas

Anyway, win tomorrow night and I think we lock up the #1 seed (assuming W's at home against Stanford and Cal).

I think it used to be Elite 8 but with 12, 14, and 16 team conferences now that probably isn't possible anymore, so it might be S16.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 10:13 amWhy not? You're probably right. We did have Oregon/USC in the S16 last year, which was the first time Pac teams met in the tourney for a LONG time.EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 10:16 amOfficially yes, I just think they won't do it.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 10:13 amWhy not? A possible AZ/UCLA matchup in the S16 probably has more to do with how each team finishes the reg season than with any desire to push this matchup till the E8.

I just think with only 3 Pac teams getting in - unless someone else besides AZ/UCLA/USC wins the Pac Tourney - they won't match-up the 2 biggest marquee names in the Conference so soon.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 10:21 amYou're probably right. But I could be wrong as we know how this Conference is often times treated.

Top 4 seeds/top 16 overall can't be from same conference
Teams from same conference can't meet until e8 if they played 3 or more times during the season/conf tournament
Teams from same conference can't meet until s16 if they played twice during the season/conf tournament
Teams from same conference can play in the 2nd round if they only played 1 time during the season

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
I will call BS if North Carolina makes the tourney unless they win out including their game with Duke. If I remember right they only had one quad 1 win. That would put Oregon as a 7-8 seed. That is not going to happen.

Re: Official Bracketology Thread
Oregon may be able to get a bid just by beating AZ or UCLA in the Pac tourney, regardless of which round that happens in. If that doesn't happen, they need to win the Pac tourney to get in, imo.
Re: Official Bracketology Thread
They have 3 quad one wins and a 1 pt loss to USC or they would have swept the LA teams. They had some bad losses and if any game keeps them out it will be the ASU game (but ASU is playing well now).

I'm getting that old feeling where I think I can make sense of the tourney and the path we'll take through it, based on nothing more than a reasoning mind and how things have transpired in recent and distant pasts. When none of it transpires in accordance with my expectations, I'll be authentically surprised.

From other thread, first 20+ point win on the road vs a 25 win team in decades. Looked incredible. Any chance we can steal that overall #1 from Gonzaga? We are 15-3 in quad 1/2 games while they're 10-3. 9-3 on the road vs 5-1. P5 conference champ by multiple games. I really have a hard time believing their resume is better than ours. Even, maybe, but not better.

I think we could steal the West from Gonzaga because if Baylor is above us, they're getting the the South region in San Antonio
If we don't overtake Gonzaga, we're going to be stuck in Midwest
