Thank you, 97! But it's not my birthday, it's Webster's.

My birthday is June 30 but I don't celebrate it. Instead, I get a "King's Day" on January 6 when my wife bakes me a king cake.

My family made my 9th birthday my last, which they turned into a punishment birthday to make me sad.

I gave into my friends and celebrated my 35th birthday, but I made them celebrate me at Sam Wo in SF Chinatown (now closed), where the staff used to be abusive to the customers. The servers gave us all hell, pulling the rug from under the attempted celebration.

And I let my wife take me out to dinner for my 40th birthday and one or two other times since, but it feels wrong.

Otherwise, June 30 is Mr. Bug's birthday, and he generously directs well wishes to me, for which I'm grateful.
