Not entirely true as they do have nicknames but not officially in their names.

Examples:

Tottenham - The Spurs
Arsenal - The Gunners
Manchester United - The Red Devils
Leicester City - The Foxes
Chelsea - The Blues
Newcastle United - The Magpies

Looks like it’s Commanders.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Sounds like a USFL name but better than the "Football Team".

I actually liked the Washington Football Team.

It just felt old school. Commanders does totally sound like a USFL team!

A good name rolls off the tongue. Like "The New York Giants."

"The Washington Commanders" is about as easy to say as "Scrambled eggs with gelled cod roe crepuscules."

There's a guy in my office who from looking at his cube is obviously ex-military. Has an "Extremely Right Wing" bumper sticker hanging, and lots of Washington Redskins memorabilia.

I'm sure he's going to rush out and replace everything with Commanders stuff real soon...

It's past time for some organization to just go for it and be the Streakers. The mascot could be just whoever is the next fan to hop the wall and dart naked across the field.

How about the LA Lakers for a great sounding name, without any historical context at all to Los Angeles.

I'm sure you know this but they were from Minnesota just like the Utah Jazz were from New Orleans

Those are all great names! Love the Banana Slugs!

I just more think about historical names that are no longer relevant, like the LA (Brooklyn streetcar) Dodgers. Although LA did have streetcars at one time, but nothing like the NYC boroughs.

Although this deserves an honorable mention.

I love that name. "Lakers" became self-referential, its meaning losing all reference to the lakes of Minnesota.

Just draft a QB you fucking losers. Carson Wentz led a very good Indy team to a very mediocre result.

Hope you enjoy watching your defense be on the field for 3/4ths of the game.

It tickles me that they’re going to pretend they didn’t whiff on Wilson and Rodgers and then made this move out of desperation.

“Carson Wentz was always our first choice”, said the really bad liar.

You’d think with all the trouble they’re currently in, their PR Dept would have a long “DO NOT TALK ABOUT” list handed out to every coach and player so they don’t get in front of a microphone and make the organization look even worse.

Or maybe they do and Del Rio was still like… “but my freedumbs!!!”

What I don’t get is why football coaches haven’t come around to social justice issues like NBA coaches have since both leagues have a ton of players who are minorities, although I suspect it might have to do with how few coaches in the NFL are Black and how disposable the players are.

Why has he not been fired yet? DC is 45% black, with the metro area 25%.

EDIT:

OK, it's something but not sure any player can respect him after his racist tirade.
