All this talk about how the PAC, B1G and ACC Would work together was obviously horse shit.

There will be maybe three major Power conferences by the 2024 the SEC, B1G and probably the BIG 12 will consume the PAC and ACC in some way.

Poor Kliakoff just got bent over and done dry. Oregon and UDub I bet go to the B1G as well.

Idaho and Montana were part of the predecessor conference (PCC) but not invited to the AAWU which became the PAC eventually.

All the west coach conferences should agree to never schedule UCLA/USC in any sport in retaliation. Force their athletes into 5 hour flights for every match.

Stay tuned moderators, we may need to rename the title of this thread to "football realignment" as the conference may cease to exist.

Also, if I’m Cal, I’m on the phone with the UC president and Gavin Newsom raising hell for another UC program departing the pac 12. Unless they are a package deal…. I can’t imagine this decision being made without state-level approval.

Cal has that terrible stadium deal. Financially, the remaining PAC schools are better off going to the Big 12.

Stadium debt already absorbs 20 percent of intercollegiate athletics' annual income, or roughly $18 million of its $89 million budget. And that pays only the interest.

Cal won't start paying down the principal until 2032, when its yearly payments rise to $26 million, then $37 million, before tapering off in 2051. After a brief respite, Cal will owe a lump sum of $82 million in 2053 alone. Then it will have six decades to pay off the final 17 percent, or $75 million.

Yeah, that's a bit why I suspect Cal is looking to piggyback on UCLA.

Separately, if the decision to depart was based on media rights... which was all messed up because of Larry Scott... and Michael Crow was one of Larry Scott's biggest backers, does this mean this entire debacle is ASU's fault?

As a reminder, Big-12 just hired a new commissioner.

2021 Conference money average distribution:
1. Big Ten: $54.3 million
2. SEC: $45.5 million
3. Big 12: ~$38 million
4. Pac-12: $33.6 million
5. ACC: ~$33 million

I don't understand why all the talk is about the BIG12 picking off the remaining 10 PAC schools.

the pacTEN has the markets and access to California plus Arizona/Nevada recruiting. The LA schools already get their pick of SoCal recruits, so it's not like the west coast talent pool will be drained with their departure.

BIG12 has Texas access, but Texas has a half dozen super-conference teams within a few hours drive.

Why is the Lubbock/Aimes/Stillwater conference taking its pick of the Seattle/Phoenix/Denver(Possibly San Diego?) markets and not the other way around?

Lol well unless us and a couple other schools join the big 12 (which will still be way less prestigious than the big 10 and sec) Arizona athletics will be a Mountain West level mid major in every sport by 2024.

I was completely against joining the Big 12 earlier. I am now fine with it but still think if Oregon and Washington are fine staying you gotta take 4 from the Big 12 if possible. Has to be more than adding Boise State and San Diego State

The PAC president's academic standards are really outdated. BSU and SDSU would never get into the PAC. Same with BYU being a religious school.

Would WSU get accepted into the PAC in 2022 with their academics and athletic facilities? Oregon State?

Supposedly no one outside of UCLA and USC knew. What was he honestly supposed to do? Say he did know, what’s his play? Turn down $50M a year for tradition? Good luck with that.

This is on Larry and the PAC-12 presidents for not adding Texas and OK (plus others) during the first realignment. Also botching the hell out of the PAC-12 network that put us so far behind that the best choice is to get out while you can.

Yep back in 2011 or whatever we should've added like Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and someone else and got a deal with espn or cbs or someone to make the Pac 14 network and we'd be golden now

The whole PAC-12 should just merge into the Big10, but kick out Oregon state, wazzu, and ASU. Make the “state” schools play with their peers.

Larry still screwing us from beyond the grave. I like Arizona basketball in the big 12 though. Would be a major upgrade. Finally playing against physical schools and better refs will help us out in March big time I feel. Arizona football is still wait and see with Fisch but I like where the roster is heading, definitely getting stronger, longer, and faster players. Baseball and Softball will stay the same. I don't see much negatives in joining the BIG12 besides having to bring our little bitch along with us. Lets go now. Screw waiting a couple years.

Scott and the people that hired and kept him around really screwed the conference.

Doesn't Stanford usually win the Director's Cup for most national championships for the AD? Although they all seem to be in negative revenue sports.

Personally, I hope the PAC survives with Oregon and UW continuing. As for the south, let's add BYU and SDSU and move on-hopefully with better leadership than we've had the past few years.

BYU is already going to the Big12 and would not take a pay cut.

Pac university presidents would not take a religious school either.

SDSU does not meet the academic standards required by PAC presidents.

Are they actually even students anymore with NIL(at least in the the big revenue sports)? The whole NCAA just needs to become a semi professional league with school work/degrees optional. Maybe just eliminate the Conference affliations all together and just have a pool of high revenue producing schools separated by region. That is where the all mighty dollar has taken us. Travesty in every way and basically the destruction of true college athletics.
