Another thing to know about Robbins.... he does love his sports. In fact if it were up to him we would have all day tailgate parties and use the entire mall for tailgating on game days. He would rather we resemble an SEC/Big10/Big12 game day.... But still it boils down to if people will like him or not for making this decision....
Re: Conference Realignment
Agreed, they have gone underground for a reason. It’s a huge decision and one that has to be thoroughly scanned and probed.

Arizona would like ASU/Utah to go with us, but they are not going to stop us from going. If we go it forces their hand anyways.KillerKlown wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 7:11 amI think it's made up imo. It's been UA can/will move without and now after the Apple deal drops it's suddenly we won't move without them. Look out for #1 should be our only mindset right now.
If it is true than Robbins just proved with out a doubt it's true what everyone says about him .

In a perfect world Fisch/Lloyd would prefer the Pac-12. We don't live in that perfect world and they know that all AppleTV would absolutely destroy their recruiting, so they know what the correct move is.

Where is his allegiance? Is it to arizona of which almost all fans and alums want this move? Or it is to his ego and the leadership of other schools of which would be using him as a tool.Alieberman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:49 am Another thing to know about Robbins.... he does love his sports. Choo, Did Robbins meet with BY? And do we know anything about said meeting?

I think that sums many of us up. Would love to stay in the PAC with familiar destinations and rivalry’s but the monetary sale t of things just doesn’t allow for that.
Things were going to change anyway in the next round of negotiations so let’s get this done now and be a leader

I've heard the rumors, but I don't know for sure. Even before CU left he was talking to Yormark weekly, so our position at the moment is far form a surprise.
This was the always likely outcome and everyone knew it after the Big12 took that ESPN/FOX deal from under our noses. It's just been politics and letting every thing happen from that point on.

Re: Conference Realignment
Saw this from Chuck C.
Doesn’t seem like he’d be too torn up by moving to the Big12, plus he has to know that being on linear TV benefits recruiting way more than 100% streaming.
But at the same time…

Re: Conference Realignment
You know the deal is bad because it hasn’t been leaked to any big media outlets. No one who has a big online or TV/Radio presence is out there defending it.
The deal is a pile of shit. Time to run because there’s no way it gets better. Not if every other media company has bowed out.

Re: Conference Realignment
The B1G has been hesitant to shoot the kill shot to the PAC, but perhaps the B1G see the PAC now as seriously wounded, and are ready to kill it as an act of compassion? Any combination of these schools going B1G, and we have no choice but to go to the BIG12. Would like to see the BIG12 also pick up SDSU and maybe Fresno State too. Give the conference a presence in California.

B1G already shot the kill shot. They’re just following the blood trail to the carcass.

A good point was brought up to me
How likely is it espn and fox will pay the full amount to the Big 12?
How likely is it espn will pay the entire SEC? What about cbs fox and NBC to B1G?

Espn will pay SEC first and work out a way to reduce or not pay Big12 if it comes to it
Fox will pay B1G first and not Big 12 if it comes to it
Apple maybe the lowest but most secure
Not saying it is the best move to take it but it is something to consider

Re: Conference Realignment
B1G is about the raid the Pac 12 conference of it's 4 lost valuable schools, Apple isn't offering $20 million for Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona schools and Utah
Re: Conference Realignment
The BIG12 has 4 pro-rata spots for Power 5 teams written into their contract. Meaning the first 4 P5 teams that jump to the BIG12 are guaranteed a full $31 million. Colorado already took one spot. UCONN and SDSU are not P5 teams, and would likely not get a full BIG12 share to start; it would likely be half share to start with a ladder up for five years.
The SEC and B1G have no pro-rata written into their respective contracts. Even for P5 schools. It's unlikely UW or Oregon get full B1G shares to start. Still, even a half share is similar to BIG12 full share, and the future of the B1G is a lot more solid.
ESPN wouldn't mind if the BIG12 added more schools in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. It gives them tier 1, 4th window content at $20 million a school, which is their share of the BIG12 contract. Much less expensive than paying even half share for the SEC for similar content.
If conferences aren't stopping at 16, and the B1G officially finishes what they started when they took the LA schools, again, I hope the BIG12 has plans to add SDSU. Add Fresno too, and maybe UCONN, plus Gonzaga for basketball only. These four are G5 schools, and wouldn't get full BIG12 payments. But would solidify the BIG12 as the basketball conference along with Arizona, plus give the BIG12 a presence in CA for both TV market share and recruiting.

Lol…right, just now thought of this, exploring, kicking tires.
No way Jose.
Just dust off those discussions from a year ago, open a bottle of wine, and let’s get really cozy UW and UO…
They’ll take partial over full Big12 membership.
The window for arizona is closing. Let’s jump NOW
