Purdue is more than Edey. They have a guard and forward that fought for every loose ball. They also hit the boards harder than any team we have seen. Where I think we might have a slight advantage is our bigs out running Edey.

If our bigs stay out of foul trouble and spell each other we can keep Edey running. Ke needs to play big on the boards and our guards gotta be strong with the ball and knock down shots. Damn it's gonna be a good test.

Don't look now but Wisky looked really tough against Virginia. Doubled them up on rebounds (48-21) and hit from 3 pretty well.

Tell me who thought Marquette was good? Just 3's and doesn't even look like an organized offense. It is early but compared to Gonzaga or almost any team I have seen this year just looks helter skelter.

Marquette has to figure out the Trollops' Tar Baby. It's a McConstipated gameplan that gums everybody up.

For the number 4 team in the country they need to play at least a little defense and look like their offense isn't just their point guard penetrating and passing to the corner for 3.

Maybe it's me, but it seems that time slows to a crawl when Mick's Trollops play a 40 minute game. It's never-ending.

Edey is getting the same apologetics from the announcers that the collegiate Shaq used to get…

His fouls aren’t fouls; his obvious uncalled fouls aren’t noticed. Irritating!
He’s shoving off and holding like crazy.

That’s fine with me. He’s not gonna get away with that crap against Oumar and Mo. He slow as a slug…

Barnes just got a technical when Edey egregiously pushed off, but was awarded : fouls shots…

Arizona should beat both these teams. Tennessee can't shoot and Purdue plays in the half-court. The Cats can match-up Edey. And, I wonder how Purdue is going to deal with the tenacity of the Cats. When the Cats get into a flow, they are really fast, and really good. Maybe MSU will reveal some flaws I don't see.

Purdue shot 48 fucking FTs; Tenn. shot 30. Wow.

Purdue put up 54 FG attempts; Tenn. put up 58. Against Dook we put up 65 and had 17 TOs. If we take care of the ball and don't foul unnecessarily we beat either or both these teams.

I don’t judge perimeter shooting or ball handling too harshly in these day-two and day-three games in these tourneys. Gotta take into account tired legs, which doesn’t occur the rest of the year…

I think Tennessee is a dangerous team, athletic, good defenders very quick - I think they could beat anybody.

Purdue won’t always shoot this poorly, and are pretty good. I believe Arizona matches up with them better than any other team - we should beat them… I can’t wait to see Edey vs Oumar AND Mo - could actually be Mo’s coming out party on the National stage!!

Of course, in Indy there’s always the fear that the refs will fuck it all up!!

That's beautiful.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

If we play Marquette I don't know how we guard Ighodaro. Dude that big and that mobile has 4" on Keshad and is used to playing 9 more minutes per game than him. Gonna be a load if they speed us up and spread the floor. Quick guards drawing help give him a lot of goods looks.

I'm taping that Mqt Purdue game, I gotta see them both.
They don't have a Mo or a Ballo. We have a lot of different looks to throw at them.
Plus I'm sure we can do better on Igodaro than Kansas did with Dickinson, we would put Hunter in the spin cycle as well. HD scores a lot and is tall but easy to out work for quicker bigs.

I predict that the winner of Purdue/Marquette will be #1 next week; the loser will be #2 0r #3, depending how close the game is.

We'll get Purdue, regardless. I'm pretty confident we match up well with them.

BTW - I believe that rankings before January (at the earliest) don't mean very much.

The Maui Invitational is a really brutal tourney this year - KU, MU, PU and Tenn all risked leaving with 2 losses - one certainly will...

... regardless, these battles are a coach's dream - even the losers will know exactly what they have to work with and what needs to improve.

Just like the 'Cats after their preseason schedule!!!

All of it's great for the fans!

Can’t be any more sped up or spread out than what these kids face every day in practice.

I hope you're right, but off the dribble against Kansas they looked faster than us. One could argue it was an outlier game for them, but if Love goes that fast he isn't usually reliable; Boz is solid and productive but he's not as fast; Lewis and Bradley will not have the minutes to change the speed difference IMO.

When we get spread out it can drill down to matchups, and that brings it back to Ighodaro. If we go small and Keshad can play 35 minutes and beast for every fucking minute .... who knows.

Third game in three days - can’t draw many conclusions about poor perimeter shooting.

this game was won on the interior…

I agree with this. Many things can change. Teams and players improve over the season. If UA played like they did last year in Maui they would have been in the final four.

Well let’s look at my track record. Loved the Sumlin hire, was skeptical of the Lloyd hire, and was outright hostile to the Fisch hire, so OBVIOUSLY… I know my Sportsball.

Watching the Maui championship game it appears Purdue is for real. That is great for the upcoming game in Indy. I still say Kansas is overrated. No way they are top 5.

Purdue, Arizona, Marquette, UConn, and Duke are better.

Agree about Kansas. No way are they top 10.

Can't see UConn above Marquette when they nearly knocked off Purdue.

I hear you. Should be a close vote for 3-5. But that’s how I think it’ll go. UConn is also the defending champs, so there’s that.
