This game could be gnarly. Haase must be apoplectic after losing to the ShitShovels. He'll be beating the sidelines blue the whole game.

Frankly, I'm having a hard time generating enthusiasm for these conference games...
The second half on Friday bored me shitless.

I think it’s going to be a very exciting game for the 9 people in attendance

Finding it hard to get enthused for anything basketball right now after what we witnessed in football this season

Our players must be #badfans and owe somebody an apology.

Not going to miss traveling to these dead conference environments at all.

It is indeed not location restricted, but stream is still up for anyone who needs it
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
We're playing Stanford so I presume that Spencer Jones is going off for 30+ points today.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
We're fine. They have no way to stop Ballo and Keshad on those entry passes into the low paint. They're not going to shoot this well for two halves. Our size and quickness will eventually wear them down.

Our 2nd half performance against Cal has carried over into the 1st half of the Stanford game

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
So when this kind of crap is happening (other team can't miss, we're making turnovers, our overall play is flat), does this AZ team have a guy who can take charge and get us turned around? All I'm seeing right now is that our players look uninterested, sloppy, sluggish and passive.
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Can we stop shooting 3s?

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Stanford is doubling the post and packing the paint. This is the exact same game plan as last year.
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
I'll say one thing for Bradley - he appears to have chosen an appropriate uniform number.

Don't just shoot 3s, oh my gosh!!
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Jesus, we're playing like crap
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Boswell with the High School level turnover.
We continue to get burned on the high screen...at what point do we bring Ballo up on the screener and contest???

Arizona is up 34-16 (in McKale).

Teams have figured out our guards don't play defense

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Anyone else concerned about Boswell? Just feels like we're getting less and less from him each game.
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
I am concerned.......but I am more concerned about the Juvenile turnovers than I am his shooting slump. The odds are he will break out of the slump eventually. The turnovers he has no excuse for.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 2:43 pm Anyone else concerned about Boswell? Just feels like we're getting less and less from him each game.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
If they take the 3 it goes in. If the dribbler goes to the paint (we drop and) he keeps the pursuit on his back for an open J.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
This game feels sooooo reminiscent of early tourney exits.
When the other team gets a big lead, we just start launching threes. We get away from our usual attack, and our defense falls apart.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Which is why we need to bring our center up on the screener and either a) Switch the screen; or b) hedge itdovecanyoncat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 2:47 pmIf they take the 3 it goes in. If the dribbler goes to the paint (we drop and) he keeps the pursuit on his back for an open J.

Easily the worst half of basketball in the Tommy Lloyd era.
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
At least we got it under 10
Time to regroup and kick these guys butts

I have a feeling we'll see a completely different team in the 2nd.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Play better defense and we can still win this game. Let them get open consistently like in the first half and we are toast.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Furd is 7-12 from 3.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
CTL needs to do some Bobby Knight level ass chewing at half time
I also think a full court press is in order on all made AZ baskets to start the 2nd half. Stanford is not athletically all that gifted. We should be able to speed them up and get some turnovers.

Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
We are toast, they can't miss!
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Oof this one is looking rough… lots of poor close outs and defense, coupled with Stanford being unable to miss from 3
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
Long way to go.
We need to
A) Stop sagging Ballo off in the paint
B) Contest all screens (or hedge them)
C) Stop doubling the Stanford center in the paint leaving the 3 point shot wide open
D) Start pressing the hell out of them on made buckets
Re: (M) Game #13 Arizona at Stanford (2023-2024)
They are shooting 70% from 3. Teams don't shoot that v well in practice with no D. It's fucking ridiculous.
