Congrats to him, had a great year!

While that USC game was a stinker, I don't think he was chucking that much in the game outside of a shot or two. He just didn't have it, got some good looks and his shot just looked really off. The TO's on bad passes were a bit more troubling

Have a feeling he'll be on this week.

He looks injured - mechanically shot looks off across the board, he is missing runners and badly missing open 3s

He's not injured. Stop with the excuses. Meanwhile RJ Davis and North Carolina are getting the job done on their quest to yet another Final Four. Must suck for Caleb having to watch his old teammates advance further. But that's what he gets for being a quitter. He wasn't North Carolina good so he had to downgrade to Arizona.

I know you like trolling but come on now… he hasn’t looked anywhere near this bad all season long until last 3 games. His shot hasn’t looked this bad all season either.

My Questions for Caleb:

Should Caleb turn pro after this season?

He's unlikely to be drafted by the NBA. (#81 consensus rating - https://www.nbamockdraftdatabase.com/bi ... board-2024)

What can/could/should he improve in another year of college ball to increase that ranking?

What NIL $$$ can/could he earn next year?

If undrafted, he could sign with G-League and/or sign-on without any guarantee.

If cut from NBA - G-League, or overseas?

Caleb is a senior. I’m not understanding how he could play another college season.

From what I understand, according to the COVID rules everyone is allowed one extra year if you were in school during the shortened season of 2020.

And others have said the only player on the team that has had 5 full years including 2020 is Keshad.

He played three seasons at UNC, and one here - he could still take one more for COVID, correct?

That is correct. Only Johnson is out of eligibility. I think the issue with Love is the same as Tubelis. Not NBA skilled, but they are already in their 20's and need to start the clock ticking on their professional careers. Along with having to take classes still.

Believe Zu is making between $200K and $300K in Lithuania, which is pretty good for there. Believe his NIL valuation was $100K or so although no one knows how much they really made.

Imagine if the whole team came back but KJ. That would be a good start in our new league as opposed to a entirely new team. I saw a ranking of NBA prospects and that highest associated with Arizona was Adama.

Sean Elliot was on a local radio show yesterday, or Friday. He said he hasn’t seen AZ play a game this year but from what he has seen of Love in the past and highlights, he thinks he can play in NBA. The host sounded a little skeptical.

One of my (many) fears for the upcoming tourney is that Caleb will attempt to showcase his NBA 3 point shooting range.

I'm more afraid that he'll think it all rests on his shoulders and he takes 25-30 shots/game.

I don’t care if he shoots 25 times a game as long as he hits 10-12 of them.

In our last three losses he’s averaged just over 9 shots per game. So it’s not as if he shot us out of it. In fact, he probably should have just kept shooting.

I’m afraid of Boswell and Pelle deferring to Love forcing him to chuck up 20+ shots.

Same, esp with LBSU's zone defense.

Looking at the last 3 LBSU games during their tourney run:

UC Davis 6-25 3PT 24%
UC Irvine 5-14 3PT 36%
UC Riverside 8-32 3PT 25%

Boswell is 1-10 3PT last 3 games.

Larsson 6-14.

Love 4-21.

I'm OK with that as long as the shots are within the confines of the offense and are:

1) Wide open
2) From directly behind the 3 point line

I'm afraid of the 27 foot 3 pointers with 2 defenders draped all over him.

I would prefer that CTL keep a short leash on Boswell. If he passes up wide open shots or is completely air-balling what shots he takes CTL needs to move on to JBradley, and quickly. Bradley is quicker than Boswell and is much more suited to penetrating a zone defense, which is what I assume that Monson is going to throw at us tomorrow.

The Athletic highlights some players to watch - highlights...

https://theathletic.com/5349759/2024/03 ... 0gmail.com
NCAA Tournament’s 10 most intriguing players to watch: Dalton Knecht, Caleb Love and more

Hunter Dickinson, Kansas (We already knew he was weak - Koloko exposed him in 2021 in Vegas!))

Jaelen House, New Mexico (Offspring of the balls-hawking ASSU guard!)

Caleb Love, Arizona

The 6-foot-4 guard has lived in a slingshot for the past three seasons. He was a low-efficiency but high-effectiveness scorer for a North Carolina team that reached the national championship game in 2022. He returned to Chapel Hill and effectively absorbed the blame for a 2022-23 season that was one of the most disappointing in program history; the Tar Heels went from preseason No. 1 to missing the postseason entirely while Love took a career-high 15.1 shots per game and made only 37.8 percent of them. He tried to transfer to Michigan but the school overrode the plan due to academics. Only then did Love head for Tucson, with one final chance to prove he is the player he claims to be.

Now he’s the Pac-12 Player of the Year for a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, with career highs in scoring (18.1 points per game), effective field goal shooting percentage (51.0) and Win Shares (4.8). His story is polarizing and mesmerizing. The ending isn’t written yet. And if the seeds hold and Arizona makes it to the Elite Eight, it would play … North Carolina.

I imagine Lloyd had quite a talk with him at halftime. What a difference the 2nd half when he started attacking the rim and playing inside the 3 point line.

Any team from now on will let him hang outside and chuck.

Actually, my takeaway is that we showed today that we don’t need Love to get 25+ in order to win. Are we vulnerable when he isn’t shooting well? Absolutely. But we have a balanced scoring attack that most teams won’t be able to match.

Also, Love will definitely have a break out game in this NCAA tournament. It’s coming.

Absolutely - if he keeps taking shots when they make sense, looks to create/rebound/defend we are in a good spot.

We need a balanced attack with our primary PG playing well to progress

Love must have had 3 plays in the second half he started with a contested rebound and then a hard push up the floor. The lob to Keshad on the break for the jam was one of those.
