yeah they'd have 0 points, australia would have 0 and chile and netherlands would have 6. they wouldn't even need to play the 3rd set of games in that group since it would already be decided.

Would be fun, but I've just been listening on radio. And radio is no disadvantage compared to TV, at least, since there's really nothing to watch when it comes to soccer.

Not much different from a meaningful game, really. In either case, it's just a bunch of very small human forms running around a big field, falling down, and kicking the ball to the wrong area.

Japanese fans who watched their national team be defeated by the Ivory Coast in the Fifa World Cup on Saturday showed it is possible to lose graciously, when they stayed behind after the match to help clean up.

Despite seeing the Blue Samurais lose 2-1 against Didier Drogba's team at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife, Japanese spectators armed with bin liners patrolled their side of the stadium and gathered up discarded litter, Yahoo Sport reported.

While gathering waste after a sporting event is customary in Japan, the spectators’ actions came as a shock to football fans from other countries.
As pictures of the scene spread online, Twitter users took to the social media website to praise the do-gooders.

It wasn't great, but...

Mexico is still on four points with Croatia on three. Mexico is guaranteed to go through with a draw in their final game. And the reality is that's a very good spot to be in for basically any team, knowing all you need is a draw your final game with Croatia and you're into the knockout rounds.

El Tri has put themselves in a very good place; let's see if they can finish the business in the group stage.

The point total in the group is

Brazil 4
Mexico 4
Croatia 3
Cameron 0

Cameron can't catch Mexico in any scenario. Croatia can catch Mexico, but those two teams are playing each other so a draw pushes Mexico to 5 with Croatia ending at 4.

The Improbable Story of How the Trendiest Chant in Sports Began

Before it became a rallying cry for enthusiastic college basketball student sections or hopeful U.S. soccer fans, the trendiest chant in American sports began as something much less grandiose.

It was the brainchild of a Naval Academy Prep School student who never expected it to spread across his own campus, let alone across the nation.

Tasked with inventing a cheer for his 50-member platoon in fall 1998, Jay Rodriguez conceived of the now-famous "I believe that we will win" chant and taught it to his peers. Classmates say it was such an instant hit that members of other platoons joined in the rest of the school year whenever Rodriguez led the chant at Navy Prep basketball and football games.

"The first time we heard it, we all thought, 'This is awesome,'" said John Reeves, who attended Navy Prep and the Naval Academy with Rodriguez. "Jay was really good at coming up with stuff like that because he was very intelligent and very creative. It caught on like wildfire."

By 2010, rooting sections for several Major League Soccer franchises decided to borrow the chant after noticing the fun that fans at schools like Utah State and San Diego State were having performing it before games.

Strong couldn't believe it when he began graduate school at San Diego State a few years ago and listened to the Aztecs' student section give a deafening rendition of the chant before a game. Reeves was equally surprised when he was watching a football game on TV and heard the students performing the chant. Carthan had no idea the chant had spread until he stumbled across one of the ESPN World Cup commercials this spring.
