It's going to be hard to fix the deficit if nobody goes to the games.

I like CBB and certainly rooting for him to turn it around. We're in a tough spot, but Babers has got to go.

What does he do? He haunts us weekly with this archaic offensive playbook he designed.

Oh yeah?
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Re: 2024 Season Thread
The team is under-performing preseason expectations. Big Time!
So, understand that passionate fans, even of an historically mediocre program, are suffering, too. Big Time!
And, experiencing disappointment as merely disappointment is difficult. Especially, it seems, for fans who should be familiar with disappointment!
So that disappointment is, apparently, experienced as "insult", traumatic injury, and/or actual psychic harm. That requires revenge, payback and condemnation of any and all who can be blamed!
Fortunately, on a fan discussion board, we all get to witness this play out, over-and-over and in elaborate detail. Enjoy!!

Maybe the preseason expectations were the issue

Well, I had those expectations. I did have some reservations, but, regardless, I AM VERY disappointed in the performance so far - though not exclusively with the coaching staff...

Babers made $4m last season at Syracuse and received a buyout of over $7m. He should be working for free of he isn't going to be OC

Let's say that the fan expectation was last year's roster was at 100. Many people expected it to be 85-95 this year.
Maybe in reality last year's was 70-75 and got lucky and players fit Fisch's system and super lucky injury wise.
And this year's roster is 55 with bad injury lick

I think we now know why Fisch only played 3 receivers.
I think we know that Babers install on offense was a bunch of archaic, non sensical plays and that there is no way a new play book in bulk could be installed now. Adkins has no chance but to call a game with plays that don’t work with the limited talent
We now know why Fisch said publicly, “it’s not sustainable” given our history and NIL limitations. We are razor thin on depth and now most of this quality guys are hurt or gone

Re: 2024 Season Thread
I can understand the rationale behind chasing leadership that’s checks all the boxes. Unfortunately, coaches that are worth anything will get poached more often than not. It’s just the way of the sports world. Oregon has had their misses as well, but they understand that most of their coaches will leave, because its...Oregon. You have to hope that a coach will come and turn our football program into a destination stop, much like Lute did.Postmaster wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 7:42 pm I took the "Tomey era hire" more as trying to hire someone with honor and integrity. We’ve had the best and worst luck with coaches. I mean, Lloyd and Fisch in the same year? Ridiculous. On the flip side, Brennan is just about as opposite as you can get. If the AD wanted to go cheap, then they should have went CHEAP. Get someone like Jimmy Rogers at South Dakota State or some other FCS school who is young, a great recruiter and has had fantastic success. Rogers is getting paid less than 400k a year so paying him 2 mil wouldn’t break our budget at all. Our players would have been stoked as well.
I don’t root for Brennan at all, not even a little. Bad luck and misfortune tend to follow people who operate in bad faith. So the mass injuries were of no surprise. He reached his ceiling at SJSU and was looking for a lifeline and Heeke gave him one. When you’re a program like UofA you have to rely on gambles and retreads. Heeke thought he could recklessly gamble again and come out on top. But anyone with common sense can see that Brennan is a completely different animal. After this job he will never have a serious job in football again. He can’t do five percent of what Fisch contributed to this program. I shudder to think that we actually paid a million dollar buyout to have him run this program into the ground. There’s no amount of shuffling or reorganization that will save Brennan’s stay here. He’s the opposite of what the fans wanted, and in my mind he’s much much worse than Fisch. At least with Fisch, we got something out of it.

Re: 2024 Season Thread
The whole hiring process was odd. First Robbins hires two first timer head coaches and seems to have done that without involving the AD.
Then Robbins seems to let Heeke hire whoever he wants then Robbins fires Heeke. Then Robbins "resigns".
Now we have some guy who' has never had a football program as President and some lady who appears to be very worried about screen time as AD.

Meh. I’m done with Brennan. He and his staff are running the program into the ground. To me, the reason for so many injuries this year, but not last year, is complete lack of conditioning. Add that to shitty coaching and you get a disaster
Not sure if I will even bother watching another game this year. And maybe not until Brennan is canned. Well basketball season has started so we have that

Re: 2024 Season Thread
I do have to say I have been disappointed in our fans. Not that they have been critical of the play but more in the vitriol they have shown so far along with the lack of support while blaming inefficient marketing.
Tucson knows where the stadium is and how to buy tickets. Heck even the red/blue game and the first exhibition basketball game was poorly attended.
That sell out vs CU in 75 degree weather was far from sold out in actual attendance. We hold the coaches accountable but at what point are the fans held accountable?
I have a feeling a lot of those gnashing their teeth on our poor play don’t buy tickets, don’t support the collectives or really do much to add value to the programs.
I could be totally wrong but I have some friends like this who complain but when I ask them about how they contribute they have no clue.

I wish I loved anything as much as Machina loves blaming the fans (amongst whom he weirdly never includes himself) for what happens on the field.

Re: 2024 Season Thread
Average college football attendance was 41,867 in 2023, 44,603 in 2014, 46,971in 2008.
I can only speak for myself, but I find attending football games extremely boring. 15-18 minutes of action in a game lasting 3h22m. Even worse now with even more tv time outs with the new rules.
With all the different entertainment options now, and everyone having 65"+ TVs, why go to the game?
At least with basketball you get 60 minutes of action in a 2 hour game.
I am not the only one who feels that way. How many schools have made new stadiums smaller than their old ones?

Holy cow. We face a not very good team, who is decimated by injuries, at our house and with us being favored and we lose again.
I understand we're injured but jeez.
At least our guys showed alot of fight.
I feel bad for Brent. He made a mistake hiring Babers and company. I'd like to see him around, but I'm thinking we'll lose alot of guys after this season and it's going to be hard to recruit good players after this mess.
Next year will be worse. We're fucked.

He just wants everyone to know that being the only true fan left is very tiring.
Machina so sleepy from Bearing Down harder than all other so-called fans combined. Also, if everyone thought exactly like him we’d be undefeated and he wouldn’t have to bear the weight of being the only #GoodFan.
It’s very hard being Machina and we all owe him an apology.
