STARTING FIVE
1) The 2024-25 season marks the 121st season for Arizona men’s basketball. The Wildcats record in that span is 1889-986.
2) Fifth-year senior Caleb Love was named Associated Press Preseason First Team All-American this year after garnering Second Team All-American honors following the 2023-24 season. He is also one of 20 players on the Jerry West Award Preseason Watch List.
3) Arizona has won its season opener each of the last 17 seasons and the last 22 consecutive season openers in McKale Center.
4) KJ Lewis was named to the preseason watch list for the Julius Erving Award, Trey Townsend is on the Karl Malone Award watch list and Motiejus Krivas is on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar watch list.
5) Arizona is ranked No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 10 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25. The Cats were picked to finish fifth in the Big 12 by conference coaches.
NOTING THE WILDCATS
• Lloyd’s .814 winning percentage is the fourth-best percentage in the country since he took over as Arizona’s head coach prior to the 2021-22 season.
• The 665 assists by Arizona during the 2023-24 season are the third-most in school history. Under Lloyd, Arizona has registered three of the top four seasons in team assists in program history.
• Last year, Arizona ranked second in the country in points per game (87.1), second in fastbreak points (16.4), second in rebounds per game (42.5), third in rebound margin (+9.9), fourth in the country in assists per game (18.5), fifth in defensive rebounds per game (29.5), fifth in scoring margin (+15.1).
• Caleb Love ranked 39th in the country last year with 648 total points scored. For his career, he has scored 2,124 points in 137 career games (15.5ppg). Love’s 92 3FG made during the 2023-24 season are the seventh-most in program history.
