Glad those guys will get their bag. I am Indifferent on T Davis. Love his size but he is not very physical and he has the worst hands I have ever seen on a player. I wish Karnley would come back.
These guys are telling us this is a sinking ship. Of course the norm is to at least transfer once in a career to maximize earnings so not a surprise. Are there any Fisch recruits left we can count on besides Noah?

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
Thats precisely where I am at Irish. I am very skeptical, however, that the UA fanbase/alumni are willing, or able, to cough up the kind of money (every year) that is going to be required in this new Professional League of college football. I think our only hope is Congressional action that puts guard rails on the Portal/NIL. Specifically, we need realistic salary caps that level the playing field between the B1G/SEC and the rest of whats left of college football. And by salary caps I do not mean $4M for a single basketball player (like what BYU just coughed up) or $10M for a quarterback (which OSU is coughing up). I also believe limits need to be placed on transfers to kill off this ridiculous Massive Portal/Cattle round up every year.Irish27 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 1:36 pmThere are a bunch of schools feeling the same way. Unless we can get a lot of people to donate, we won't be seeing players stay here for more than a few years. For the first time, I am starting not to care about college sports, which is sad. I hope the transfer portal and NIL policies are changed in the near future to allow schools like Arizona, to be able to compete.

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
Has anyone seen any kind of concerted effort on the part of the AD or University to drum up interest in giving to NIL funds? I sure haven’t. Still getting the come-ons from the alumni association but no one is hitting me up for NIL donations which is idiotic because I’ve donated in the past.Irish27 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 1:36 pmThere are a bunch of schools feeling the same way. If you want people to donate you have to make the effort to ask them. How many of us right at this moment even know where we could donate if we wanted to?

I agree with Irish in that my fandom is truly being tested. Don’t like anything about college sports right now. I assume it’s different for fans of teams that can support 10+m in payroll annually

I just saw a graphic that shows we have the second most players in the portal of any Big 12 team. I dont believe our NIL is that much worse than most Big 12 teams. Highly doubt having this many players in the portal can be mostly attributed to our NIL budget. Incorrect.

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
If a lot of these kids wanted to stay we’d find the money. Might not be a ton left for incoming transfers but we could keep a bunch of these guys just with this year’s budget.

Not sure if Brennan would even take them back. CBB made it very clear during his last presser he only wants players that want to be there and buy into his system.

Arizona cornerback Treydan Stukes enters NCAA transfer portal
By Brian J. Pedersen Dec 11, 2024, 1:25pm PST 0 Comments
It might make more sense to note the Arizona players who have not decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal, because at this point it’s looking like that will be the smaller number.
The latest Wildcats starter to enter the portal is cornerback Treydan Stukes, meaning all three defensive captains from the 2024 team are looking to transfer.

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
That is a HUGE statement about how the players feel about this coaching staff. I'm done with UAFB as long as Brennan is still here. He is going to almost single-handedly sink this program for years to come.

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
At this point, despite the logic that in the NIL environment it makes at least short-term financial sense to shop yourself around to the highest bidder after demonstrating some level of success, it's hard to view an exodus to this extent as anything but a vote of no confidence for Brennan. That's both in terms of the perceived likelihood of any long-term tenure for him, and the level of buy-in to his system and approach. And despite any appeal of instant playing time to any one-shot/hit-and-run/pad-your-stats players, that wouldn't seem to bode well for quality incoming transfers. We seem doomed to this perdition because of the spending of the previous regime, optics, and state politics.
Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
Wonder if in the next round of interviews if anyone will ask him about his miscalculation of the number of players moving on? His definition of stable is a bit perplexing

Still waiting for Noah's own declaration he is staying, not what his dad said. According to Brennan, he is waiting for the OC hire to be announced:

“He has every intention of returning, but I think who we hire has every impact on that,” Brennan said during a Zoom call Thursday. “He has to be excited about who we bring in to be the play-caller.”

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
The large number of defensive guys leaving is a bad sign, IMO. A lot of guys seemed to stick around because we kept Akina here instead of following Nacen last year.
Akina still here but in a diminished roll.
Who was it whose dad said he was coming back? Stukes?

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
I have seen numbers all over the map. The 247 #'s, however, are highly questionable. 29th place would indicate that we are outspending some B1G/SEC schools which is laughable on its face. The following list would indicate that we are currently ranked 40th........and that list doesn't include private schools such as Miami/USC/Notre Dame/Duke/BYU/Baylor so we are actually closer to the 45-50 rangeMerkin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:17 pmYou are correct. When you look at projected NIL + Revenue sharing for 2025 the UA is ranked 45th.....and again this doesn't include the private schools which means the UA isn't even in the top 50

Spoiler **conspiracy theory coming** CBB is actively and intentionally driving players away. So, he brings in a whole batch of small, slow OKGs, ends up wil a 2-9 record next year, and tells the AD that he is having to rebuild from nothing and he "just need 3-4 more years to get us on top". As he drags the program further into irrelevance.

My conspiracy theory is that CBB wants to get fired and get that $15M check or whatever. Go back to a G5 team.
Worked out well for every UA head coach since Tomey, outside of Fisch. Don't really need to try that hard to get paid.

Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
Tongue-in-cheek, but some elements there. It sure sounds like, after going 4-8 with some very decent inherited talent, he made some team speech about only wanting "players who want to be here" and repeated it in the media. Then, he crossed his arms and didn't lift a finger trying to convince anybody to stay. You know, that re-recruiting thing you have to do every year now with the portal. Which sounds a bit like blame-shifting based on maybe a subtle innuendo that attitude issues were the culprit, rather than incompetence. He came in with his First Year Coach 101 textbook about "establishing a culture", as though there was anything wrong with the pro approach that resulted in 10-3. As in: "Don't you tell me how much more sophisticated things were last year; that shows a bad attitude (and also makes me look bad.) We want "U-Rah-Rah Cats" and demonstrating how inspired you are by me." Ugh. We'll see what that attracts in the portal, if he ever gets around to it. But it sure seems like he wants to claim that "fairness demands" he gets the routine three years to build from "nothing" with "his kind of players." (Shakes head.) 10-3.BBQ wildcat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 3:36 pm Spoiler **conspiracy theory coming** CBB is actively and intentionally driving players away. Re: 2024 Transfer Portal
It’s definitely prove-it season for Brennan. If we come out of this transfer period significantly worse talent-wise then going into the actual season his seat should be molten lava hot.
If you can’t win with the talent you were given, and then can’t keep that talent, and THEN can’t attract new talent, then what the fuck are we doing here?

Defensive back Genesis Smith plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3.com’s Hayes Fawcett. He becomes the 30th player from this past year’s team to enter the portal, the eighth who started at least four games on defense.

As it stands, only 40 scholarship players from the 2024 roster remain with the program.

I really hope Noah makes up his mind in a hurry. The kid has done so much for us and for that reason alone I’d love to have him back but there are some really good QBs in the portal and my fear is that in the time he takes seeing what’s out there for him we will miss out on all of them.

He only played 3 games his freshman year, so that counts as a redshirt season, so yes, 2 more.
he committed sight unseen
That's pretty odd, although others have done it.
75 in Tucson today, 44 in Indiana. Better get the UA hotties out there in their shorts and tank tops.
