Re: The Big 12 Thread
TCU just did us a HUGE favor by beating TT.

Think AzGirl meant TCU.

Ha ha…was typing at same time.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
It is so hard to win on the road in the BIG-12. Last year only one team (Houston) had a winning record on the road. It is why Houston going for their 12 road win in a row (record) is incredible.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
I know we have Kansas on senior day, but I don't get why so many are assuming we'll lose. They look like absolute shit.

I get missing the idea of Pac 12 basketball…. But the reality of what those games were like do not compare at all to the everyday competition of this leaguedirtbags wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:18 pmi do. i miss the regionality and old rivalries, and i like the left coast.Alieberman wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:06 pm Anyone who says they miss pac 12 basketball needs to get their head examined

holy fuck, byu is up by 31
Re: The Big 12 Thread
Does anyone know why we play on Wednesday next week then have to play ISU on Saturday? Why before big games are we getting one less day to rest/prepare?
Re: The Big 12 Thread
Kansas with no timeouts with 14 mins left. This is the BYU team we will face Saturday. Let's hope they get all their shooting out tonight.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
You can tell BYU is coached by a former NBA assistant. 3's are the way for them to go.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
ASU down by 19 with 16 mins left. LOL.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
oh, it was bobby. blew his top with the officials. lmaooo
Re: The Big 12 Thread

BYU pulled their starters but not Kansas
Re: The Big 12 Thread
BYU and TCU doing us huge favors tonight as far as us staying in the top-4 for the double bye in the tourney. You love to see it.

They're closing the gap!

Final: BYU 91, No. 23 Kansas 57

Re: The Big 12 Thread
ESPN says it was Kansas' worst lost as a ranked team to an unranked team in program history.

Bill Self would be tearing out his hair except that piece is expensive and I’m sure it was painful to get sewn on.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
BYU 12-2 at home. Baylor 12-2 at home. This league is incredible when playing at home. BYU looked great. They will be ranked next week. Kansas will not.

I don’t think we miss it at all, especially having to travel with ASSU which was a gimme for the opposition who would then only prepare for us.

I thought Tommy said he liked playing Monday because you get the whole week to rest up before the weekend game.Merkin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 8:42 amdirtbags wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:18 pmi do. i miss the regionality and old rivalries, and i like the left coast.Alieberman wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:06 pm Anyone who says they miss pac 12 basketball needs to get their head examined

As for old rivalries… I can’t even really remember any besides UCLA and we just (unfortunately) played them. Sure, Oregon for a bit. Stanford going back like a quarter century maybe. But we fucking dominated almost all of those bozos almost all of the time. Looking forward to developing new rivalries against schools that give a shit.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
Same, and I feel like the cats rivalries will take on different flavors.
Already I look forward to playing Baylor, TT, Houston, BYU, Kansas, Iowa State, none to mention will watch K-st, TCU, wvu, and others with interest

Since his promising freshman year at Michigan, Hunter Dickinson has made a lot of NIL $$$ helping his next four teams underachieve.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
I thought the PAC-12 was a class conference with good athletics in all sports, both men and women. Better schools, history and culture.
For men's basketball, the BIG-12 offers better competition and full venues - that is better, though the "truck stop" locations are worse - KC is not even close to LV for a tournament venue....
It will take years for true in-conferenve "rivalries" to be realized, and it's likely the current 16-team roster will have a relatively short tenure.
It is what it is, and we're subject to fluctuations that the U of A has little influence over. It really doesn't matter if we like it or not.

Re: The Big 12 Thread
Most people I've spoken to are fine with the Big XII. People throw terms around like relegation, and there's certainly some truth to that for everybody not in the Big Ten and SEC. But people seem to forget that we were also just as relegated if we'd have sat back in the Pac. There was no option to keep it the way it used to be. Without the LA schools, there was no particular excitement in playing anybody other than the teams we already took along with us to the Big XII. In any event, there are two separate discussions. One is the gloom and doom impending-giant-asteroid-Armageddon for everyone not in the Big Ten or SEC. The other is, since we're relegated, how you feel about the Big XII rather than a Pac without the LA schools. Personally, I'm fine with it. The Vegas hoops tournament was fun, but it was 4 days out of 365, and Vegas is still there whenever you want to go.
Re: The Big 12 Thread
this sums up where i'm at pretty well. tangential to the regionalism, i'd guess a good chunk of uofa folks have a lot of friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, etc. who are fans & alums of the pac-12 set, which made it a little more fun to follow. otoh, i don't really know anyone from the big12 schools so that element of game-watching and shit-talking is gone, for me at least. i know it's small and it's moot and shouldn't be belabored; just sayin'. it'll be fun to see new rivalries develop - hopefully before future conference realignment & tv deals jostle things around again.pc in NM wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:44 am I thought the PAC-12 was a class conference with good athletics in all sports, both men and women. Re: The Big 12 Thread
rumor is that he's kind of a handful and a bit of a rotten apple on the team, so i am guessing michigan doesn't miss him. i also saw a blurb on socials that kansas was just sort of camping out in utah since last week - apparently self thought it would be a positive bonding experience, but it just created deeper fissures with the team isolated together. the chemistry issues lead me to believe that we'll see some portal departures, esp if ku doesn't pull it together by NCAAs. i wonder if tommy has his eyes on any potential outside shooters that might be a good fit?
Re: The Big 12 Thread
What that graph shows me is that if you have money you can participate at a high level. Look at SEC teams after 2020. Clearly before that the PAC was in a good position. Stanford will always be there because of their access to the necessary funds.
