Have you got an extra $4-5M of NIL for CTL to do that??? Or are you willing to cease pursuing the Peats/Burries of the world to "Build a Wall"??
Of course if CTL stopped recruiting 5 Stars you would be the first one to complain. Go back to Wildcat Authority and spread your genius around there.
Not sure why you’re so bothered by any of that. Frankly I don’t care. But what’s hilarious in all this is telling me to go back to a premium forum that comps me to offer my insights, has done so by their Arizona insider staff for over 20 years, going all the way back to Josh Gershon and Ben Hansen, speaking of which, takes us back to GOAZCATS days, which, if you didn’t know, I was one of the heavy heavy lifters in rallying and recruiting the free board there to come here when the free board was being killed, going toe to toe with MAO, being slandered and harassed by him because I was so dedicated to this community.
But yeah, tell me to get lost. LMAO
Me? I’m young. So young that my handle is representing a former coach and dog that have been long gone…
I was once called a sock puppet, but I don’t remember who said it…one of you old assholes.
I left this and twitter mostly for my mental health and to reduce the amount of annoyance in my life. Glad to see you are back fighting the good fight.

Re: Tommy Lloyd
I like Lloyd as well. I am sure it had to do with multiple off the court favorables more than anything but given that this season was a bit of a downer I found it interesting that Arizona sauced up his contract. Particularly since he doesn't particularly care for our AD and he isnt her coach.azcat49 wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 8:04 am If you are speaking to CTL, I like the move. He was courted by Nova this off season and likely a big name will come up soon(North Carolina/Kansas) and he will be on their list.
I like our style of play and our competitiveness. I would like to see a change on the staff for recruiting purposes but we will see on that.

Any word on Robinson retiring?
Re: Tommy Lloyd
Any word on Tommy's next class guys?
Re: Tommy Lloyd
Remember when the question around here was could Tommy recruit? There are others that say we should be offering 15 -20 guys a year. Don't know what is right but this year concentrating on a few players out of high school seems to reaped benefits. The other thing is we probably have no idea how many offers were out there unless the players revealed it. A good example was Arenas.
I believe proven transfers may bring more predictability to a team performance but some freshman are too good to pass up.

Re: Tommy Lloyd
The issue with not offering more than a few guys a class is if we whiffed on Burries and Peat this board would currently be melting down. Its always a good idea to have a plan B.TheCat wrote: Wed Apr 09, 2025 7:40 pm Remember when the question around here was could Tommy recruit? Re: Tommy Lloyd
The post is made was never Can Tommy Recruit. I never hinted he couldn’t. I said he artificially limited his upside by handcuffing his offers or delaying his offers.
But this is the exact best case style of class the Arizona brand under Lloyd should be getting.
It won’t be the norm, just because NIL era is too unpredictable, but this proves he can establish relationships and close on them. That’s excellent.
Now imagine his transfer or portal recruiting if he had more prior relationships because he previous recruited/offered said prospect. The Bradley Corollary.
What Happened this cycle is incredible fortune where the two baskets with all the eggs literally so late in the process there’s no backup options worked out. But we know for fact Tommy sacrificed recruiting Arenas and Tounde to focus on Burries and Peat. That’s a HUGE gamble that paid off. Funny thing about gambling, though.
Overall, I’m proud of Lloyd for his adapting to NIL and Leveraging Arizona Brand.
But even Jason Scheer says he should be blanketing recruits more.

So if CTL had used a wider net strategy and came up empty would we have been happy today?

You’re trying too hard to be edgy. You suck at it. You’re like a tween who got crotchrot from their first week of football tryouts and they wore their jockstrap a size too small. And now you feel the need to overcompensate because you were done in by water, clothe, and a microdick
Jason Scheer is the foremost authority on Arizona anything, is basically the oracle, he’s gone toe to toe with National asshats and won every argument. He’s also dedicated 2 decades of his life to Arizona Sports, having to fight off creepy stalkers in court and won. That last part was as much a warning to you as it was an info drop.
Get your shit together. Your vibe is pathetic

Re: Tommy Lloyd
If he casts a wider net, there’s no world he comes up empty. These results are very encouraging. But just remember, as recently as 3 weeks ago Koa was an unknown linked to Houston, Texas, ASU almost more than Arizona and Burries was almost always finding a new team to let fawn over him, up to and including a late surge by USC with Arenas being used as primary recruiter at MdC AA game.EastCoastCat wrote: Thu Apr 10, 2025 3:55 am So if CTL had used a wider net strategy and came up empty would we have been happy today?

It’s about making sure you have outs.
Tommy has 3-4 scholarships in the backend he will never use. Players can open up recruitments late if they feel recruited over (I see you Jamari). Casting a wider net ensures you have players and depth. You can still prioritize your favorites. But with Transfer recruits often being double what prep recruits cost, yeah, Domestic Preps is the way to fill out a roster yearly and hope half of them stay for a second year or three.

Re: Tommy Lloyd
I never implied you said Tommy couldn't recruit. If you go back a couple of years on this board it was talked about frequently. This isn't about you. Why don't you tell me how many recruits Tommy offered this year? You have NO idea. Do you know how much money Arenas got from USC? Since I live in LA and Arenas was followed on the local news why did he always mentioned Arizona as one team when asked who was recruiting him the hardest? Was he lying? Why do you think no one that follows Arizona basketball even knew he was offered a scholarship? The answer is simple. Tommy doesn't report that and only if the players announces that is it known. You know "blessed to receive a scholarship offer". When many players are asked who is recruiting them the hardest many times they mention Arizona. Is Arizona recruiting them the hardest and not offering a scholarship? It could be possible. There is no doubt that Tommy is more selective than some coaches but he is not the only one.JMarkJohns wrote: Wed Apr 09, 2025 9:25 pm The post is made was never Can Tommy Recruit. As far as backup options your predictiction of the portal drying up or being of lower quality since 5th seniors are gone did not come to pass. For me I think you could easily make a top ten team and never recruit a freshman if you had the right NIL. You know who has stated he will never step foot in a recruits house again ....... Rick Pitino.
Glad Tommy was successful recruiting this year. I think we are probably running low on NIL but who knows. Hope we can find a couple of contributors from the portal that will make us a great team. Even great freshman struggle as CB could attest. CB averaged 6.5 points in 19.3 minutes per game. He should double that this year. ADO in contrast averaged 7.2 points in 18.2 minutes. Neither was a great defender but CB was an ELITE shot blocker and was getting very good at rebounding toward the end of the year. Hopefully ADO comes back as a mediocre defender and can contribute more.
Leveraging a brand means very little to recruits anymore. For example look at ASU and BYU. Neither had "brands" to leverage and ASU brought in a center that was ranked in the top 1-2 last year. BYU is bringing in the number 1 player in the country (rumored $7M) and keeping almost all of its contributors. To me BYU will be a top 5 team next year. Texas Tech just retained Topin (estimated $4 M) and Houston will be a nightmare again as usual. Kansas is going all out in the portal which they also did last year. Going to be a great year in the B12 and a baptism by fire for our gifted freshman. Bear Down boys!!!!!!
