And don't forget the women have their own NIL collective. Why did Adia never try and advertise that?

I’ll always be a fan of Adia… I just hope she learns from some of her mistakes while she was here
Re: Adia gets another raise
Adia has expressed her perspective - now, it's up to U of A's AD, or AD staff to respond, or not. And, if not, I choose to believe Adia.AZCatGirl wrote: Fri Apr 11, 2025 11:14 am And don't forget the women have their own NIL collective. Why did Adia never try and advertise that?
Former transfers could be good interview subjects on this specific issue now, if any are willing to go on the record.
I too will always be a fan of Adia's, and will follow her future career with interest.

You actually think the AD and the school will get in a pissing contest with her? You know they won’t respond and would never to a former employee
I will always be grateful for her work in restoring the program but I found her comments self serving and classless

The only response I'd expect would be factual - details of the actual NIL available during Adia's tenure, and how that compared within conferences (PAC & BIG-12), and nationally.azcat49 wrote: Fri Apr 11, 2025 1:46 pm You actually think the AD and the school will get in a pissing contest with her? No "pissing" - just setting the record straight.
I'm sure, especially in Adia's case, that emotions are raw now - let's wait a year or so and see how the parties relate to o0ne another. Adia just gave up her dream job - I'm cutting her some slack...
Check out some of Mike Malone's comments after the Nuggets fired him this week. Now, there's someone dumping on their old team and management...

Re: Adia gets another raise
From my experiences on both sides of the media interaction thing, my advice in dealing with any negative narrative involving a large entity versus a disgruntled anybody is to stay silent and let the news cycle move on to the next bright shiny thing. We just cut our WBB coach's salary in half, and people can and will draw their own conclusions, but I'd question the wisdom of divulging details about NIL formulas, competitive advantage secret sauce, etc. in a world of relentless negative recruiting. "Did not/did too" or "we'll open our books...see, we're broke" would not seem to be particularly helpful.
Regarding Adia's employment, she's a climber, and good for her. Based on her history as a player here, she got a leg up to a higher rung than she could otherwise expect for her first HC job, which meant more money and prestige in a shorter time than working her way up through smaller schools. And it either would have ended this way, or she would have left for bigger bucks and more resources after another Final Four, if she could have ever managed that, for something like UConn, Stanford, South Carolina, Texas, LSU, etc. That would have meant more wins for Arizona, which would have been nice, but then you'd get to enjoy the Larry Smith, Jay Johnson, Jedd Fisch scenario.

So it's not just us, every recent hire all over the country has been bad.

Here's my take:
She's a shitty coach who got carried by Aari and hasn't done jack shit since.
See ya later, you're SMUs problem now.

Why would a school increase spending on a woman's sport? It would just increase the deficit. See South Carolina.AZCatGirl wrote: Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:14 pm So it's not just us, every recent hire all over the country has been bad.
You can give the female athletes a scholarship but aside from a few schools, it seems that higher expenditures just leads to greater losses.

Give me someone who deserves empathy and I’ll dole it out.
But Adia made a boatload of money, ran off a ton of players, then quit and torched my school on the way out the door.
She deserves fucking nothing except my contempt.

Ok I'll bite, why would I be empathizing with Adia? Please list the reasons.
Re: Adia gets another raise
Who even knows if you're capable of empathy? Empathy is a skill that enables one to understand, engage and judge others. Judgement of another without empathy is incompetence...Fishclamps wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 2:35 pmOk I'll bite, why would I be empathizing with Adia? Please list the reasons.
I believe all human beings deserve empathy. Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person, and it's a fundamental aspect of being human, allowing us to connect with others on a deeper level. While some may argue that those who have acted harmfully might not deserve it, the ability to empathize with others, even those who have wronged us, is important

Re: Adia gets another raise
Regarding social media, of course many of the 5K or so who go to the games (net of the student section) because it's so much cheaper than the men's games are unhappy because they probably won't be getting an Aari & Cate team again anytime soon, if ever. But comments like 'they should pay her what Lloyd gets' is absurd and calls the credibility of some of that group into question. I mentioned the "coach as entertainer" compensation model earlier. Well, ESPN+ is great for hard-core fans, but it doesn't pay jack, and that's the women's games. 2/3rds of the men's games were on the "big" ESPNs and other outlets, which pay plenty. So, if you were working on a "fair" percentage of the income you attract, for WBB it's purely the home gate and concessions. 5K times an average season ticket price of around $150 is $750K, plus the mark-up for hot dogs and cokes, but less the overhead to run McKale, plus travel and other expenses. And they were paying her over $1M. Sorry if boosters didn't step up to supplement WBB, but they didn't. College athletics has been a pretty cut-throat business for a long time, but the NCAA encouraged promoting a make-believe image straight out of the 1940s as better for its business. I'd have to grudgingly concede to the extent that the recent changes in NIL and the rest have caused more of a focus on certain realities, that's probably a positive.

Re: Adia gets another raise
I guess I'm just confused why I'm supposed to feel bad for a petulant toddler masquerading as a grown ass woman who made over $1 million a year who is burning bridges on her way out?
I'm fully capable of feeling empathy, but it's almost always for people who have had a bad time due to things not in their control. Usually I can't be bothered to feel the slightest bit bad for entitled brats who cause all their own problems.

I can understand that she didn’t want to go into next season as a lame duck and sought greener pastures.

Her apology feels meaningless when she keeps causing drama and never learns to keep her big mouth shut. Have fun SMU.

This, after she lost to NAU twice and GCU just in the past season? It may just be a rallying cry for the mid-majors who provide many non-conference games for P4 schools. Reap what you sow...
