Arizona is the best in the Pac 12. Kid knows what's up, I guess.
Arizona is certainly a much better destination right now. Never said anything to the contrary.
Wasn't trying to be confrontational. Right now, Arizona is the best program in the West, and I don't think it's opinion based. UCLA had a turn less than ten years ago, but right now it's clear.

The only reason you'd come to play at USC or UCLA right now, is because of the media market or playing time. Both programs are in a dumpster fire right now.

I'd say Arizona has been the clear favorite for two years. UCLA won the regular season title as little as two years ago. Then we hired Alford

Eh, that year UCLA won it, their coach was a dead man walking and he got canned. I'd give Arizona the last 3 minimum, maybe 4-5 based on how the programs were trending.

4-5 years ago, neither program was anything to write home about. Very rarely has both Arizona and UCLA been elite at the same time. When one team is ahead, the other team is usually floudering without much direction.

Even then, only one missed tourney. That was our low point. Even the other NIT year, we were clearly on the way back.

Ucla has 2 like 9 years average slumps. 81-91 they missed the tournament 5 times, had only 2 conference titles and 1 sweet 16. From 98-2005 they missed the tournament twice, had 0 conference titles and never went past the sweet 16.

I probably worded it poorly. I should have just left it as an NCAA caliber team as it gave the distinction of multiple years rather than a case by case seasonal approach

I remember UCLA and Arizona both being pretty damn great in the 90s. Almost always in the top 25, almost always getting a four seed or better. Two titles. But other than that, your statement is mostly attributed to your program.....

We "did not improved" the season Lyons was our pg? That plus hanging their hat on Shabazz winning in the P12 tourney (and flaming hard in the actual tourney) are great. The entire thing tries way too hard.

I give it one star.

Concussion perhaps? Big loss if he can't play tomorrow.

Would Looney really go to the hospital if it was just for a concussion protocol? That mark under his eye looked like a fracture to me. Looks like a lot of boxing injuries when there's a fracture of some sort.

Nope, UCLA is desperate and refs are letting them get chippy. It'll be a good one, but Arizona will win it, I think.

Hope Looney's okay. Not terribly happy about having to play UCLA in the conference tournament. They feel like our kryptonite there.

Havent seen any updates on Looney yet, but if we are going to get the same refs as last game, we didnt stand a chance.

Good luck, hope you can lock up the 1 seed if UCLA is going to lose

If he isn't concussed (fingers crossed), then hopefully he can wear a face mask to protect the fracture and keep going. That we still haven't heard anything lends hope. Injuries obviously suck, but post-season injuries suck approximately 71.4 times worse.

a bruin friend in vegas messaged me and said it was " just a facial laceration" - though i'm not sure something like that would warrant a ct scan. hopefully the injury is minor enough that looney can suit up with a phantom of the opera mask and play today.

From UCLA:

"After further evaluation, Kevon Looney (facial fracture) has been cleared to play with the use of a protective mask. He will go through pre game warm-ups to gauge his comfort level with the injury and is officially listed as a game time decision for tonight's Pac-12 Conference Semifinal against Arizona."

I thought Alford got out-coached.

Come to think of it, I didn't see him do much coaching at all.
