If Xavier wins I'm going to laugh my ass off.

Re: The Official "Redemption" Thread
Starts with OSU - could be Xavier after that?! Which isn't really redemption but still. Then Wisc. Then Kentucky (again - not redemption but has a lot of story-line ties!), then Duke for the ultimate 2001 redemption?!
All of that said.
Beat tOSU Sat. That's all I want.
Right now.

I would love for us to beat Duke for the chipper, especially while on staff at their university. 14 years, full circle.

Storybook stuff developing. Redemptions? Match ups against old teams and friends? Three number ones?

Mr. Russell, I want to introduce you to Rondae....and if you get sick of him I want to introduce you to Stanley
Oh Mr. Russell, they might be a little fired up to show what they can do against the #3 potential draft pick
Have fun with that Mr. Russell

Re: The Official "Redemption" Thread
If you are talking redemption, Xavier could say they need redemption for losing Sean Miller to Arizona.
Re: The Official "Redemption" Thread
I can't imagine Chris Mack playing that angle. He's still Sean's friend.Catintheheat wrote:If you are talking redemption, Xavier could say they need redemption for losing Sean Miller to Arizona.

Re: The Official "Redemption" Thread
Chris Mack is a competitor and will use whatever advantage he can find to get his team fired up for next Thursday's game - just like Miller would. "He left here to coach at a school that never would have recruited you"... I think that might put a chip on their shoulder.AZCatGirl wrote:I can't imagine Chris Mack playing that angle. That said, you are right in that it is not personal for him because he and Miller are friends. From his comments after today's win, he feels like he owes Miller a great deal.
For their fans it is immensely personal, not that their feelings will have any bearing on the game. They did not care for Miller's comment when we hired him that he came "because he believed he could win a national championship here". He then tried to backtrack, but they haven't forgotten.
The irony of losing to Xavier, especially if Wisconsin somehow gets knocked out before we tip off against X, would be awfully thick. Having them block Miller from his first final 4.... It is why this next game concerns me more than any remaining one we might play. Any other loss would be easier to stomach, even if it would hurt just as much.
Fortunately this is all fiction, and I have faith in this staff and team. But if the storyline from the next game is redemption, then we will be one sad fanbase Thursday night.
