I've followed Shane Dale for a while and he is the biggest ASu homer/UA grad combo I've ever followed. He's probably jaded by all the Phoenix media types.
Assume he has to be careful between the two fan bases in order to sell more of his books. Think that's primary reason he to caters to both bases or stir up trouble to promote the rivalry/book.FightWildcatsFight wrote:I've followed Shane Dale for a while and he is the biggest ASu homer/UA grad combo I've ever followed. 4. Arizona Wildcats
Rich Rod, baby — that's all a team needs.
With the Pac-12 still ringing in my head, I buzzed Kevin Carter down in Tampa, Florida. He was either throwing out the first pitch at a Rays game or polishing his Super Bowl ring ... or actually both at once. Turns out he had his eyes on the West Coast, too. Actually, on the desert.
"Anu Solomon will explode in his sophomore campaign."
Really? The same Anu Solomon who beat out a senior to become Arizona's starter? The same freshman who threw 14 touchdown passes during a 5-0 start and ended up tying the Wildcats' record for TD passes in a season (28, shared with Nick Foles and Willie Tuitama)? The same Anu who nearly broke the school record for passing yards in a season with 3,793?
OK, once I said all that aloud, I realized it was a pretty heady call by KC. But he wasn't done.
"His performance wins Arizona the Pac-12 and a berth in the College Football Playoff."

Theoretically we could end the season with 2/3 losses, still win the PAC12 but not get selected in the top 4, and make it to the Rose Bowl, right?UAEebs86 wrote:If that happens we're missing the Rose Bowl again.
But we'd most likely have an outright PAC championship finally.
Hell yeah. I just love being in the conversation.azgreg wrote:
Yes. Only if we are ranked high enough.UAEebs86 wrote:Yes. Do we need to fall within a certain ranking bracket or is there regional preference for NY6 bowls? I know we need to be top 12 but if we had to be a specific rank, like #9 or something, then that'd make it a lot more difficult.azgreg wrote:Only if we are ranked high enough.UAEebs86 wrote:Yes. The top two teams will receive preference, both for region and also for matchup. So if Arizona was the last team in they could possibly end up in the Sugar Bowl.FightWildcatsFight wrote:Do we need to fall within a certain ranking bracket or is there regional preference for NY6 bowls? The semi-final games are at the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl this year.azpenguin wrote:The top two teams will receive preference, both for region and also for matchup. So if Arizona was the last team in they could possibly end up in the Sugar Bowl.
We can't get into the Rose Bowl this year without a playoff bid. It's a playoff game. Next year and at least for the three years after it will be a NY6 and not a playoff, so Arizona could go with a second place finish in the Pac if the Pac champ goes to the playoff. Not this year, though.
Fotu, Grant, T Jones were all suspended for 1 game for violating team rules. Grants was indicated to have occurred during the summer.gronk4heisman wrote:Why was Samije suspended for the UTSA game? I must have missed that.
I had no idea on any of those. That actually makes me feel a lot better about last Thursdays showing.azgreg wrote:Fotu, Grant, T Jones were all suspended for 1 game for violating team rules.
