Haven't rooted for the Condoms in decades, but I did yesterday. About the only "school" I wouldn't root for over PSU is Trump University.

Clemson Linebacker Ben Boulware Gives Lengthy Press Conference Response To Why He and His Teammates Poke Players In The Butthole After They Tackle Them

http://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu ... D=ref_fark

"That’s something we’ve done all year to mess with player. No one’s probably done it as aggressive as Christian did. We try to be a little more discreet about it and just poke somebody, but he definitely grabbed a handful. I did it against USC. The dude tweeted it. I just poked him in the butt. Like, it’s just something we do to mess with players, break up the seriousness of the game.

I’ve never done it as aggressively as Christian did it, I’ll just poke them. It’s gained some unwanted attention. I don’t think Coach Swinney—we would just make fun of Christian. He’s not going to suspend Christian for grabbing a dude’s butt. Like, it’s not really that big of a deal. It’s just kind of annoying.

You kinda gotta to be a little fox about it and poke em real quick. And I know this is probably going to blow up, and everyone’s going to think I’m a sexual predator because I poke guys in the butt now. It’s just we play football together for hours and hours every day, in the locker room, bored. We don’t sit in the locker room poking each other’s butt, we’re just together all day and get comfortable around everybody. It is what it is. Our defense, we’re good, we also like to have fun out there. I just wish Christian didn’t do it as aggressively as he did. He needs to be more discreet about it.

I know there’s going to be one person: “Well, I played football and I never did that.’ You either sucked at football, you had no friends in the locker room, or you were the person that went in the bathroom stall to go change because you were scared to shower with the team.

Yes, Christian went — he went about four fingers deep. He went a little too far. But when I’m just messing with somebody, poking them in the belly button or grabbing someone’s butt, it’s just to break up the seriousness of the game. The people who are freaking out about that have never played the game, or were just losers who didn’t have any friends when they played the game. It’s annoying."

Boulware is also the guy who tried to choke out Lamar Jackson after a play in their game. I'm not interested in anything he has to say. What a joke

Think Dabo's players love playing for that guy?

What a breath of fresh air... Loves what he does, wears his heart on his sleeve, and seems 100% authentic.

He is a far cry from most of the self-absorbed prima donnas coaching BCS programs.

After winning 7 straight Natty's, the SEC has only won one of the last 4.

And our underrated conference has not won one in 13 years, and only 2 in the last 25 years (and one of them was shared). In the previous 17 years, we had 2 more (both shared).

Thank goodness for the Sears Cup, because in the 2 sports that everyone cares about, the PAC is an afterthought among major conferences.

The playoff has been good for the sport.

8 teams would be perfect.

Amazing how the reduction in SEC winning championships coincides with going to a playoff system.

It lets the result be determined on the field, which is the right thing to do. 8 feels right to me too. 5 power conference winners, 3 at large bids, done.

How good was that game last night in comparison to the slog through the remainder of the bowl season?

Eh, the month between conference championships and the conclusion of the bowl season is what does that. Adding an extra round doesn't add time. This year, they would play 12/24, 12/31 and then the final.

Exactly, one game before the Christmas break for the round of eight in one of the janky bowls, semis during the NYE/NYD big bowls and the. The championship game as scheduled.

Win your conference title and your in, the last three in by metrics voting, BCS calculations etc.

Perfect.

FCS has a 24 team playoff. If you have to play in the first round and make it to the final you will play in 17 games. It's not a problem for them so it wouldn't be a problem for the FBS division.

So far, the #1 seed has not won the playoff. The 8 seed would be unlikely to not be a top 10 team. Is it odd for a top 10 team to pull an upset or two?

There were a lot of complaints about OSU making it over the Big 10 winner. P5 winners plus 3 at large pretty much covers every team with a legit argument. If you didn't win your conf or demonstrate you were one of the top 3 other teams, too bad.

As structured, a P5 winner isn't going automatically. Midmajors are fairly unlikely.

Just because you expand once doesn't mean you have to go further.

whether there are 4, 6, 8, 16 or 24 teams there will always be someone complaining about being left out. just cap it at the 4 and be done with it.

Always the contrarian. Never stop being you.

So your cool leaving out a legit power five conference champ. And leaving it up to polls. Gotcha.

I don't think it's crazy to think a P5 winner has a legit beef about being left out and that solving that issue matters.

Also, you can conceive that the 5th best team in the country could win a NC tourney. 9th is pushing it way more.

I'd say one or two teams complaining about being left out is far better than five or six.

Eight team playoff is ideal.

Yep, 8 teams. 5 P5 champs, top ranked G5 team, and 2 at large.

I don't like the G5 mandate. I'm all for G5 teams, but some years they do not deserve to be in 8 team playoff. I'm pretty merit oroiented about the last 3.

I agree with this ^^^.

But I don't think a bigger pool would have produced a different champion in the years the current system has existed.

At least USC shut Penn St fans up...

I agree that an eight team playoff would be best, although you know that with the ranking system we have now there is no way you wouldn't have at least 2 or 3 SEC teams every year. You would have to be able to mandate a maximum number of teams from any conference.

You can include a provision where if one of the champs isn't in the top 16 they can take 4 at large teams and leave them out.

I don't like any mandates beyond the 5 conference champs. Don't penalize a good conference.

When the regular season ended, who would not have put OSU & Michigan in the top 8? I would have, with USC as my other at large pick.

OU & Penn St would have been in as conference champions. (An argument could have been made for Wisconsin over USC... not sure who else - but that would have left 4 B1G teams).

To me, there was a clear gap between the top 8 & the rest this season... but that is not the case every year.

The bolded above is where the problem lies - what determines a good conference? The SEC formula of preseason favorable rankings, all cupcakes OOC and win at least 3 conference games results in too many bowl eligible teams (14(!?) this year). There needs to be changes to the ranking system and some sort of metrics in place other than the eye test administered by talking heads with contractual conflicts of interest with one particular conference.

Anyway, back to OT, an eight team playoff would be ideal in my opinion.

I don't think there should be any rankings until week 5 or 6 of the season... I know it will never happen, but it would help alleviate the biases you mention.

That said, I think 3 of the best 8 teams (and 4 of the top 10) in the country this year were from the B1G - and I don't think any should have been left out because they weren't in a different conference.

I was talking G5, not P5. I would rather leave it fluid for the midmajors with them earning at at large, bc there are some years a G5 school is good enough and some years they aren't.

I wouldn't mind your idea with P5 schools, though. I think you strive for the best, and while conference champs are usually there in P5, no harm in cutting them when they are not.
