January, so we won't be able to enjoy it this year.

I believe by the end of the season. November/December.

As the website says, we finally have some erection! This building makes so much sense for Tucson and our heat, monsoon lightning and afternoon rain always threatening summer training camp practices. Pretty amazing this thing hasn't been built until now.

Naming rights to the facility are still up for grabs. I wonder what it would cost...

It's probably within reach of this board if we all chipped in the way the season is going.

The Merkin Indoor Practice Facility has a nice ring to it and could be shortened nicely to “The Merk”.
Just sayin’...

I got $50 for The Merk
Maybe I up it to $100 and then Arizona Stadium gets named to The Machina's Lonely Island?

In recruiting can't imagine how much every program in the country has used us not having something like this over and over, year after year. Don't blame them, who really prefers to practice football in 100+ degree heat and monsoon lightning storms? This a game changer (or at least should be!)

They have been using it against us forever. I used to think it would be a game changer but since we have announced it, we have had two bleh recruiting classes. Maybe now that it’s done it will help but again I think doubtful. Would have really helped like 15 years ago when these were just getting going. We have painfully lost the facility war in football as we were late to the game with everything so now we are only keeping up with the joneses and not really setting ourselves a part. Every program in the PAC 12 already has an indoor facility outside of the Cali schools which don’t need them. Every BIG 12, SEC, ACC, and Big 10 school that needs one already has one too.

They are going to fly a drone into the facility and give us a tour in the next few weeks. They are not putting a jumbotron up on the wall so no indoor viewing party for home/away basketball game like I requested

Their name is also on the side facing Arizona Stadium as well and my guess is it's on the side facing 6th St too. To be fair the couple paid for 50% of the damn thing, so they can put their name wherever the f*** they want lol.

We are lucky the Davis family is not giving any to her alma matter, Norte Dame. They have given about 30m or more over the last 5 years. They didn’t even go to the UofA. Not sure why slapping their name on a building rubs you the wrong way Newport

I am not bothered by it at all. They paid for it let them do what they want. But they are sending a strong message we run this shit having a building top sign and eye brow sign facing mckale. All good just know what’s really going on. And the reason they don’t donate to notre dams is $30m at that school does not give you the power $30m at Arizona does. Notre dame has plenty of wealth donors, Arizona has much much less
And trust me, me being jealous of someone having a name on a building is pretty funny if you guys only knew

What I find interesting is they don't list naming rights for Arizona Stadium. If they can get a million per year from a company to rename the fricken stadium they should. Any extra income is better than no extra income. Colorado State has a deal with a local credit union and are making $38 million total from it. How we can't get Vantage West or Hughes FCU to pony up some cash is beyond me. I mean good christ if we're looking for money to rename McKale (a historical name that means something) then you should take any coin you can get to rename Arizona Stadium FFS.

Me too. And agreed with Arizona Stadium. No one is attached to that. I would be really angry if they renamed McKale

I thought I read where McKale will always be a part of the name, even if they sell the rights. The football stadium is where they can make some dough

If I got lucky enough to donate that amount of money, I would take the power that amount of money buys but make them keep the McKale name in tact.
I do know U of A is actively looking at sponsor's for Arizona stadium as a way to raise yearly revenues so they can fund more improvements to the stadium via debt. My guess is it happens soon as it is ridiculous we have not taken advantage of that revenue source.
McKale means something great to all of us
Arizona Stadium means nothing at least to me.

i'm sure this info is located somewheres....but i'll ask here if anyone knows off the top of their head:
is the turf inside the practice facility the same as the turf in the stadium?
