There is more discussion in the article - including transfers,
Unlimited transfers is new, and the NIL collectives are becoming unreal. I am obviously not a football guy, but I expect the numbers to change dramatically over the next few years where freshmen are going to have less and less impact on future seasons. Already for most college players, the freshman year is just to bulk up, get faster, and learn the playbook. Especially true for the non-skill* positions. Already seeing it now in basketball where coaches take transfers from mid-majors over promising freshmen. Right Tommy?
Why spend years developing players, and just when they are getting ready to make an impact they bail to a better offer?
*-hate that term. Obviously they are all very skilled.
What about transfers?
Transfers are not included in the main Blue-Chip Ratio calculation. There are a few reasons for this.
Through four years of heavy transfer portal activity, national titles are not being won primarily through the portal. Michigan did have several in 2023, but most of the team was developed out of high school. Georgia did not take a single scholarship transfer in 2022 and had little reliance on it in 2021. The best teams recruit high school very well and then look to fill holes or upgrade in spots via the portal. Teams loading up on transfers are frequently coaches looking for a jumpstart to a new tenure, or, on the other end, looking for a fix to save their jobs.
Not always, though.
But with each passing year, transfers are becoming more ubiquitous within the sport of college football thanks to the removal of the year-in-residence requirement, immediate eligibility and now unlimited transfers. There were more than 2,000 scholarship transfers this offseason alone.

Fwiw Shelton is a really good kid and if Arizona was even halfways remotely competent on the field I don't think he'd be looking to bail. I mean we had him visit for homecoming where we got our asses absolutely handed to us and only put up 7 points. I can't exactly blame the kid.

Unranked, at least now, but has a decent offer list.

Robinson had 11 reported offers when he committed to Arizona. He chose the ‘Cats over Washington State, Boston College, Houston, Georgia Tech, Tulane, UNLV, Wyoming, and San Diego State. He currently isn’t ranked by 247 internally nor in the Composite. I do expect that to change in the near-term.

And without $20M/year for NIL (Scheers #) its probably not going to get any better..........regardless of who the coach is.

The coach absolutely matters.
If I had a couple mil to throw at NIL, I’d seriously question whether I wanted to invest it in kids to play under this coaching staff. That’s not to say I wouldn’t contribute at all, but I definitely would want to know that A) we are going to upgrade the offensive & S&C staffs and B) I’d want to hear a detailed plan from Brennan on what the next two years looks like from a recruiting standpoint (what kids are we after, what programs are we making in-roads with, what positions are we looking at for transfers, etc). I wouldn’t just throw money down the Brennan Shoulder Shrug Hole and hope he somehow strikes gold on a few kids and can squeak out a .500 season and an appearance in some car part bowl before it all falls apart again. How do we get back on the track Fisch had us on talent-wise?
Minus all that, I’m saving my money for help with a buyout or for NIL under the next staff.

Definitely you invest with the thought you will get a return. Does one really think we will get that return with this staff after watching this season?

UA has not had a lot of success in putting QBs in the league. Don't blame him or any QB.
https://www.azdesertswarm.com/football/ ... sneri-2025
The loss of McDaniel drops Arizona’s 2025 class to 57th in the country, per 247Sports, and 12th in the Big 12. The class still includes one QB, 3-star Luke Haugo, the top-rated passer in Arizona.
