That's because more give a shit about bball. I'll sacrifice more time and money for bball as it's a more enjoyable experience. Period.

For the record I’ve bitched about the start times for BB and FB equally and you continue to tell those of us who do to pound sand cause that’s what the networks want/dictate apparently.
Lol...yeah one hour ahead of start time in California due to day light savings. We are on pacific time those months.PHXCATS wrote:All times mentioned are Arizons timeCalStateTempe wrote:Um...daylight savings? Which Arizona doesn’t honor. How much of that time would be post game message boarding?scumdevils86 wrote:I can drive to an 8 pm tip bb game in Tucson, watch it till the final buzzer, and still be home by 10:30, 3 hours max (and we don't suck). An 8 pm kickoff for football means even I would have to dedicate from about 5:30 pm to at least midnight (to watch a team that sucks).
BB would win every time.

You need to accept the fact that nobody cares. In public places when there is a UA football game on, half the time the TV's are set to baseball or any other sporting event. Only winning and the media attention associated with winning will change this, and no, it's not "if we come, they will build it."PHXCATS wrote:Alieberman wrote:Is that the amount of sold tickets?PHXCATS wrote:730 Game for Oregon/Homecoming

Actually, the NFL slotted that one after the PAC scheduled this game. This time it’s not the conference’s fault.CatsbyAZ wrote:ASU seriously time-slotted one of their home games against a Cardinals Thursday game? How stupid?azgreg wrote:They're at the Cardinals game.

With UA being shitty, my interest level in college football is practically nil.Merkin wrote:azgreg wrote:They're at the Cardinals game.
Are there enough rabid fans that go to both team's games? Anecdotally speaking, most football fans I know are rabid about college or the NFL, but not both although they keep an interest up in the other.
I am too. Especially since it was because I was an ass.Newportcat wrote:Chi

I have been to almost every Cardinals game since State Farm Stadium opened. While the Cardinals being awful plays a huge role, there were more Denver fans than any visiting team before at the stadium. Have to figure asu playing the same night war a huge factor. Unless it was Bears vs Cardinals at the stadium if UA and Cardinals played the same night I would be at the UA gameazgreg wrote:Most of the season ticket holders I know here in Phoenix have both Cardinals and ASU season tickets.Merkin wrote:Are there enough rabid fans that go to both team's games?azgreg wrote:They're at the Cardinals game.

I would just like to point out that I've been a Rams fan since 94 and I'm no soccer dad!!
But I was pretty much forced to be a fan (being that I was all of 5 years old) because I had a family friend play for them and I practically watched every game. Obviously 1999-2001 peaked my interest the most. I guess I'm not as rabid as I used to be, but there have been some tough years smacked in between this one. 7-0 feels good, especially with UofA being terrible.
I was an LA Rams fan. Season tickets with my dad from ‘83-‘88. When Georgia fucking Frontiere intentionally destroyed the team and then claimed she couldn’t make it work in LA so she could get a sweetheart deal in St. Louis, I was heartbroken and vowed to never cheer for them again.PieceOfMeat wrote:I've always been a bit curious how being a fan of a team that jumps cities works.cats101 wrote:I agree.azcat49 wrote:That was a great read Merk. Like If you were a LA Rams fan back in the day, did you stop that when they moved to st. louis, and then become a fan again when they moved back to LA?
Or if you were a st. louis rams fan only, do you still root for them now that they're in LA?
Just interesting to me how this dynamic plays out among people. I don't know that I'd be a Bears fan if, for example, they moved to Boise.

That didn’t last. I still loved the NFL and couldn’t bring myself to pick up a new team to follow. Living in NY at the time, I sort of followed the Giants and Jets, but it wasn’t the same. I had no connection to their history and really just didn’t care enough. So I still rooted for the Rams, even though they broke my heart.
But the Rams didn’t get better in St. Louis right away, so my fandom waned further. Then ‘99 happened and that all changed. They were so exciting and so fun to watch that I stopped caring what city they had in front of their name.
When they went back to being shitty, once again it became hard to care. Baseball and basketball took most of my attention, and the NFL stopped being must-see TV for me. But at the same time I had hope that a shitty team in a shitty dome in a shitty city might inspire the powers that be to move them back to LA. I had been dreaming of that since around 2003.
So when they finally announced that was exactly the plan, I was ecstatic. And I still am. They may have played in Cleveland, and they may have played in St. Louis, but to me, to 7 year old Chicat, they’ll always be the Los Angeles Rams. It is as it was meant to be.
I think it depends on the person. For me, when they made the first switch I was too young to notice or care. When they made the switch back to LA, I though it would bode well for the franchise, but I was worried if LA would support a football team, let alone 2 (Chargers). I also consider myself a loyal person, so my loyalty goes with the Rams, regardless of what state they're in. Maybe it's the memories, tradition, brand, logo ect. Not really the same as college sports, where typically only alumni and the locals support that program. Professional teams tend to have fans from all over. I, to this day, have never been to a Rams games in St. Louis, but a few at the Cardinal stadium.PieceOfMeat wrote:I've always been a bit curious how being a fan of a team that jumps cities works.cats101 wrote:I agree.azcat49 wrote:That was a great read Merk. Downey. So, pretty much South Central, but it was actually a rose in a toilet bowl in the 80s. If you could avoid the Night Stalker, it was a pretty nice neighborhood and just close enough to the entertainment options in Orange County.Newportcat wrote:Chicat, you grow up in Orange County?Chicat wrote:I was an LA Rams fan.
