PAC 12 rules state that because their next game is against Arizona he will be available to play tomorrow, but must sit out the following game even if it's next season.

Namon Wright ran from CU bench into middle of the "jawing" (since it wasn't a fight). Auto ejection but I guess not a 1 game suspension since he didn't do anything.

We need to stop sending teams to China. Other conferences have figured that out which is why two PAC teams will face off next year in a game that doesn’t count in the conference standings.

ASSU looking like it will pick up a top 50 win against Mississippi St tonight. They look better than last year as they have more size.
I hate to say it, but they will contend to win the conference this year. They are pretty good IMO

As long as Hurley is coaching asu, they will be contenders. Anderson needs to sign him to a long-term contract.

May be an unpopular opinion but I didn't think asu was all that good last year. 2 early season wins basically got them to the tournament, a spot that should have gone to USC IMO. I still laugh at all the Final Four talk and chest thumping. It was insufferable.
I also don't mind this win (only caught a portion of the game) as the rest of the conference has pretty much stunk it up. I also (barrrrf) don't mind them beating Kansas again. I think with Hurley in tempe, they will be a naggy team/program, but nothing I'm too concerned about. Doesn't seem like a threat to our recruiting yet, and I don't believe Hurley has beaten Arizona. We'll see.

I might be in the minority but I want ASU to be good. Our "rivalry" game with them is usually a giant turd because of how bad they are. Last year when they came into McKale was the the most fun that game has been in a long time.
They will never actually close the gap, but bring on an actual competitive high stakes game.

asu is the same as last year. They looked decent in non-con last year (obviously) and then fell flat on their faces this year. And that will continue as long as Hurley is there.
I only want them to be decent enough that visiting teams have to actually think about them each weekend and not be able to focus entirely on us. Other than that fuck asu

Leadership is probably a reason. Larry Scott is incompetent and not doing the conference any favors.
There are other factors, but starting at the top is usually prudent.

Larry Scott is horrible and I would like to see him gone but is he really the reason the on the field/court products suck as bad as they do? Maybe his handling of the Pac12 network and its lack of revenue has hurt our ability to hire better coaches? The conference has some good/respected coaches but none of them win any big games when it matters either. Heck, we can't even win the easy games. In the past the conference didn't get the respect it deserved, but now it feels like the conference has earned the disrespect.

Outside of Sean Miller, Dana Altman, and maybe Coach K at Utah who does this conference have that you would say are good/respected coaches?
Arizona - Sean Miller good and respected, although not great....yet
Arizona State - Bobby Hurley is TBD still
Cal - Wyking Jones, the biggest joke of a hire in Pac-12 basketball history
Colorado - Tad Boyle, meh.
Oregon - Dana Altman, good and fairly respected, not great either
Oregon State - Wayne Tinkle, he's probably recruited better to OSU than anybody prior to the Gary Payton era, and yeah...
Stanford - Jerod Haase, WHO??
UCLA - Steve Alford, BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
USC - Andy Enfield, can recruit, doesn't do much else, has a hot wife though so good for him
Utah - Coach K, good developer of talent, decent coach
Washington - Mike Hopkins is TBD, looks ok so far
Wazzu - Ernie Kent, come on now
The conference has maybe 3 good coaches if you're being generous, a couple of TBDs, and the rest is a joke.

I think you gave a good run down that I would agree with. Maybe I should of said a few good/respected coaches instead of some. A few of the borderline coaches (i.e. Hopkins, Hurley) would at least be considered Power 5 coaches. Bottom line is even the good coaches minus Miller for the most part always seem to have some kind of inexplicable loss. Hope the conference can turn it around.

Trickle down effect. Pac12 schools don't get as much money from the media, nor do they get nearly as much exposure (referring to carriage agreements, but game start times also matter). Less money means lesser coaches. Less exposure means less recruit interest. Lesser coaches can't improve interest either. Pac12 coaching positions aren't apex positions now either. Oregon was so excited to get Taggart and he was gone a year later. Even Oregon State, they lost both Dennis Erickson and Mike Riley (twice!) to better jobs.
So worse coaches and not being top tier, that's a huge detriment to program building and consistency. How in the world is a Pac12 program supposed to convince a kid from Alabama or Florida (picking two football hotbeds), to come play for a worse coach, who may not be there his whole career (firing or leaving), especially considering his family may not even be able to watch most of his games?
But maybe those issues plague the bad programs more than good programs. That's ok, good programs have their own issues. In football, WSU had 1 loss and wasn't even close to sniffing the playoff. Why? Mostly exposure and conference reputation. Look at our basketball team last year-- conference was down, but regular and tourney champs and we get shipped out to Atlanta? (well, kinda, you know). Any other major conference champ is staying as close to home as possible.
So yes, the fact Scott sucks does have an impact on the field.
EDIT: lol I thought this was the Larry Scott thread for a moment. But hop over there and ATT+U-Verse is dropping Pac12Net
