That damn, completely blown call in the first inning ended up costing us. Sucks to lose by 1 with tying and winning runs a base hit from scoring, and where the umpire took a run away from us.
Feel for Boyd at SS.

That call didnt help but we really left to many opportunities out there, starting 1st inning game 2... You cant let a team like CCU get momentum.
All in all a great season for the Cats.. JJ is well on his way to creating a serious contender year in year out....

WELCOME BACK WILDCATS
Head coach Jay Johnson and the Arizona baseball team concluded their season at the College World Series today as Coastal Carolina took game three of the series by a score of 4-3.
The public is invited to welcome the team back to Tucson by meeting the players and coaches at Hi Corbett tonight. The team is scheduled to arrive at Hi Corbett at 9:45 p.m. MST (subject to change due to travel).
Meeting the team at the airport is discouraged. We hope to see everyone tonight at Hi Corbett for a great welcome back your Arizona Baseball team!

So the NCAA has replay in football and bball but not baseball? Bet they have it next year. Cats got some bad calls after the umpiring being pretty solid most of the way

This postseason was the gravy. We made the CWS and had a good run, new coach is off to a good start and we got great exposure for the program.
Good to have the Bat Cats back on the national stage!!

Honestly don't think you could've overturned the call based on the video I've seen. Wasn't clear where the tag was applied. Anyone got a clear shot that shows space between the tag and the runner's hand/wrist?

They should call both teams back to Omaha and start it off from the top of the 10th. That is a god damn catastrophe that that play was not reviewable in a national championship game.

Yup. Those are pretty clear.
Props to CCU though. Nice story. If we had to lose, at least it's to a Cinderella and not to some SEC team or other powerhouse. /sarcasm about SEC and powerhouse.

Nice
tribute to Coach Johnson from his home town paper on his first year with the Wildcats.
“I came to Arizona because it’s a place that has potential to go to Omaha and a place that has potential to win a national championship,” Johnson said in a phone interview Thursday from the East Coast where he was recruiting talent to bolster his already accomplished roster. “I knew we had an opportunity to be better. Not in my wildest dreams did I think getting to Omaha and playing for the national championship was a possibility.”

Some people go through life waiting in vain to earn themselves a good nickname.
Bobby Dalbec has no idea what that’s like.
The man who became known nationwide as “Big Bob the Heartthrob” for the Arizona Wildcats this year has now been fitted with another flattering moniker: “Bobby Bombs.”
It couldn’t be more fitting. Dalbec is already among the New York-Penn League’s best power hitters, with five home runs in just 21 games for the Class A Lowell Spinners entering Sunday. That’s good enough for ninth-best despite having played half as many games as most of the other league leaders.
Dalbec, a fourth-round pick of the Red Sox in June, especially earned the nickname last week. He hit a pair of bombs Thursday, then belted another Friday in the midst of a 4-for-5, four-RBI outing.
Dalbec entered Sunday’s action fresh off a five-game tear in which he went 12 for 21 (.571) with seven extra-base hits and nine RBIs. He’s hitting .380 overall for short-season Lowell.
“I can’t imagine how he’s feeling right now. He’s playing with so much confidence,” Spinners manager Iggy Suarez told the media Friday night.
GINKEL SHUTS THE DOOR
Time will tell if it’s a permanent move, but Kevin Ginkel got his first professional save opportunity Saturday night, and with it came his first save.
The move to the closer’s role was likely the reward for a string of strong performances for the Hillsboro Hops reliever. Ginkel, who pitched this past season for the UA, hasn’t allowed a run in his past seven appearances.
The Diamondbacks draftee’s ERA is down to 1.72 as a result.
