At this point of the season.........4th-6th in the PAC12, 7-9 seed, bounced in the 1st/2nd round.

That can change.....but the Cats need to improve quite a bit in numerous areas

Yeah, nothing wrong with that last shot except it not going in. But there are obviously a lot of issues with the team right now.

ASU beat St John's by 13, and they had their starter Heron playing.

Also didn't have 2 other starters fouled out

Just another game where a team go’s small and exploits Zeke on defense (but he is great on offense and our best big) and balls out on Nico and dares the other guys to beat them. They haven’t beat them yet.

Smith didn’t play in the second half so I guess he is firmly in the doghouse

Losses suck. This one especially sucked. But at least this team finally stopped the hemorrhaging. So they can still turn it around, and almost certainly will. Not a pattern of three in the end -- just a pre-Christmas bump in the road.

I actually think this game is a bit of an epiphany for this team. Finally the realization that Dylan Smith can’t be getting 20 plus minutes a game. Getting Koloko more minutes. As bad as we played, if Baker hits a shot or two, we still win.

A tougher schedule early would’ve revealed these weaknesses. Better now than in March.

Nico played a great second half. Nnaji was solid as always and still needs more touches and EVERYONE needs to realize that. Green needs to be more aggressive on the offensive glass.

Sure, St. John’s was just going to let Zeke get an open look in the low post. Mannion had a really good second half. This game was lost in the first half.

St John's had a horrific 2nd half, and still had enough to make the shot to seal the victory. Even with St. John's being that bad, we couldn't pull out the W. I'd say that bump is a bit bigger than you think it is.

Totally agreed. This was a bad loss indicative of systemic issues that I don't really see getting resolved. Realistically I don't think we're much better this year than we were last year.

Well, I think it was an especially bad loss, and deeply suckitudinous. But in the last 8:30, Arizona had something do with St. John's limitations. I'd also add that I'm quite the connoisseur of the pre-Christmas bad loss. Had Arizona finished the game like they started it, I'd say they're in trouble. They may still be in trouble, but I wouldn't bet on it. Not in this year's college basketball season especially.

They also lost to St Mary’s by 40. It’s a bad loss (by 3) to go with our other difficult losses to top 10 teams (by 4). It just seems crazy to go pinwheeling from euphoria to depression the way this board does.
