100% agree. They had better quarantine all the players and coaches or the whole thing comes crashing down.

my question...and it is still me wondering...is how the closed arena idea isn't just as good as cancelling?
Nico Mannion is going to come home, go to the gym, go to a party or two, and be exposed to as many people as he would have been in the closed gym. Maybe more. Charter flight, cabin wipe down, sharing air with people he will be around anyway if we go back to Tucson (I assume they live off campus, so cancelling live classes, even if they close the dorms, won't send him home). And if he isn't coming back, it isn't like he is going to be going to class. But even the players who will be coming back...they have limited classes 2nd semester (load up online, summer, 1st semester). They are going to have a ton of free time. And they are going to go out...they aren't self-incubating.
The amount of security/workers at the gyms (you could downsize arenas) would be shrunk, and they would not need to be in close proximity of each other. So we are talking players/staff/refs. Cancel postgame handshakes. Players might be safer in that environment than if they were at home.
I really feel like/felt like the empty arena idea for the NCAA tournament (I understand getting out of Vegas might be a good idea) was smart. Eliminate 15,000 people interacting. But, unless players are forced to quarantine, they are going to mingle, hang out, get around.

So just cancel the tourney as soon as there is 1 confirmed case of a coach / player?
Look at Utah Jazz.... 1 player confirmed... now a 2nd Jazz player.... you think that's it?
It's not a matter of if, but when and it would be a really bad look if the NCAA went on and pro leagues cancelled. (hearing hockey could suspend today.... baseball will as well.

There’s a liability factor at work here. If Nico catches Covid at this tourney, passes it along to 30 people, two of which die, the Pac-12 has blood on its hands and massive lawsuits coming.
If Nico gets it standing in line at In&Out, that’s not on the conference.

Yep. This is about stewardship and taking the lead publicly so people understand why this is a big concern. It truly is terrible it came to this, but the NBA domino forced everyone's hand

Also hanging an elite 8 NET ranking banner somehow seems more legit when no games are played...

Packing up this morning to head back to AZ from Vegas. At least I got to see the UW game.
There were a boatload of AZ fans who showed up thursday morning/afternoon. Obviously a lot of Wildcat fans assumed AZ was going to get a bye.
The casinos are still full of people, but attendance is noticeably down. I had dinner at the MGM buffet last night.......they had servers with gloves on to pass out the food in the line (no handling of tongs/spoons).
I have never seen so many people using hand sanitizer in one place in my life. There are hand sanitizer stations everywhere.
Pity about the tournament.......I think we would have taken USC. Mannion & Green were both playing well for the first time in a long, long spell.

There's got to be at least a small part of them that wants to experience the NCAA tournament. That part will probably be overwhelmed and silenced by the instinct to sign a ginormous NBA contract, but who knows.
I understand that the scholarship math wouldn't add up, but these are some seriously extenuating circumstances we're living through. I'd think all options are on the table.
