I will never understand the Pac-12 diehards.

I know certain people think KC is a cowtown, and in some ways it is, but they are about the population of Tucson and yet have so much more going on.
You don't improve by playing Quad 1 games.Chicat wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 11:15 am No quad 1 games in the last month…
Where’s Machina to tell us what a terrible idea leaving the PAC is?
There are 5,000 UA Alum living in the Seattle metro area. Average salary for those living there is $76,000. The question is, how many SeaCats will see a game at Husky Stadium at one time, versus either traveling to Tucson or some BIG12 travel spot? And sorry, but schmoozing with the President and AD and going to a game is a little different than holding a Zoom meeting.CalStateTempe wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:21 amThe way some of us are talking about moving conferences is like how businesses did meetings before zoom.Chicat wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 9:23 amI’d love to see the list you got those percentages from.AzCatFan2 wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:18 am What we lose? Opportunities for the AD and President to connect with alumni in CA and WA. 17% of UA students are from California (2nd) and in 4th is WA with 2.2%. And again, more potential big money donors live in these states than all BIG12 states combined other than Arizona.
Also, big money donors travel to see Arizona play. They don’t wait for Arizona to come near them like poor schlubs like me. So that point is totally useless.
OMG our donors will never follow AZ cause there are in a different conference!
Tell that to the money ‘d Chicago, NYC, DC cats alums.
It’s 6 if you count ASU, right?CalStateTempe wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 11:35 am 4 Big12 BB teams in the top 16, 5 if you include Arizona
That’s going to be a competitive bb league
How active are you with the BayCats? Do you attend their events, including pregame tailgates?CalStateTempe wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 1:44 pm Hmm, I make a lot more than that and no AD or president is rubbing elbows with CST when I go to Bay Area games.
I guess those alum will become UW fans now.

Used to be very active. Then I got three young kids and pretty intense job. There’s other things I’d rather do with my weekends these days.AzCatFan2 wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 4:17 pmHow active are you with the BayCats? Same story here with WindyCityCats. Except it was 2 kids and a move an hour away.CalStateTempe wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 4:32 pmUsed to be very active. National exposure will always surpass regional exposure.Postmaster wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 9:42 am I wonder what is more important, playing on the west coast or being national networks?
Dylan Anderson is the only other non walk-on who is from west of the Rockies.Postmaster wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 9:55 am Do we have anyone on roster besides Johnson that is from west coast?

Incoming 5 star Carter Bryant is from CaliforniaPostmaster wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:17 am By west coast I meant CA, OR and WA.
I guess we can count CTL.
I don’t feel like El Paso is west of the Rockies (maybe just south of them), but even if it was, 3 out of 13 players shows that only being featured in “the west” would hurt our recruiting. We are a national brand that should be on a national channel no matter how many candles Machina wants to light for the PAC-8 Network.arizonawildcats wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:11 amKJ LewisChicat wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:06 amDylan Anderson is the only other non walk-on who is from west of the Rockies.Postmaster wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 9:55 am Do we have anyone on roster besides Johnson that is from west coast?
Seems like the people who won’t acknowledge the benefits of being on a national platform are just still pissed at ESPN for the Sean Miller/Deandre Ayton bullshit, which I understand. But why let feelings interfere with business?CalStateTempe wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 11:14 am I like discussions based on objective marketing data and our national brand’s fit within it, rather than feelings.
Here in Vegas (with the SC and UCLA fans set to trudge home on I-15), it strikes me that previous talk of the benefits of associating with the LA TV market was always bullshit. It benefitted the LA schools, who milked that to death and got preferential treatment from the league. We entered the Pac as a WAC school who benefitted from the driving distance from SoCal, but suffered from a minor league environment and exposure. We now enter the Big XII as a long-established P4 brand school within driving distance from SoCal, but without all the oxygen taken out of the room by the LA schools. We will no longer be banished to the sad Pac-12 network or always filling late-night TV programmer blocks. Better times lie ahead and should be embraced.Chicat wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 11:23 amSeems like the people who won’t acknowledge the benefits of being on a national platform are just still pissed at ESPN for the Sean Miller/Deandre Ayton bullshit, which I understand. I’d like to see the bird score averages for our wins vs our losses. I know Boswell is negative in our losses, but is his delta more than say Love’sKaibabKat wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:19 pm So far this season Arizona has lost 7 times. Is there a common denominator in those losses? Here are the average "40 minute Bird scores" (similar to PER) for our eight rotation players in those 7 games.
21 Ballo
20 Johnson
16 Love
14 Krivas
10 Larsson
9 Bradley
6 Lewis
-2 Boswell
This x100. Phoenix is a small tv market when you look at the top 10 and the LA bias was always the case. It’s comical how bad the Pac 12 was and the network sucked even more.TheCatInTheHat wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:37 pmHere in Vegas (with the SC and UCLA fans set to trudge home on I-15), it strikes me that previous talk of the benefits of associating with the LA TV market was always bullshit. The latter by far.Beachcat97 wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 11:59 am What’s going to be more surprising over the next few weeks? Losing in the first round or reaching the FF?
We’ll have to see what our region looks like tomorrow. If UNC is the 1 in our region, that’s not exactly an unbeatable opponent. I love our chances to win 2 games in this year’s tournament. That’s really not setting the bar very high for this team.ChooChooCat wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 5:13 amThe latter by far.Beachcat97 wrote: Wed Mar 13, 2024 11:59 am What’s going to be more surprising over the next few weeks? Nobody for this Arizona team is unbeatable. On the same foot nobody is for sure a win for this Arizona team either. Most frustrating team that I can remember.Beachcat97 wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:41 amWe’ll have to see what our region looks like tomorrow. Yep. Which is why I expect them to bounce back and fire us up for 2 rounds before flopping against a team we should beat. A little like in ‘17 vs Xavier.ChooChooCat wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:45 amNobody for this Arizona team is unbeatable. On the same foot nobody is for sure a win for this Arizona team either. All I know is putting any positive faith into this particular team is akin to pointing a gun to your head. I don't trust these guards as far as I can throw them.Beachcat97 wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:53 amYep. It’s been frustrating for sure. For some reason, Boswell is more frustrating to me than Love, even though the latter is older and supposed to be our MVP. I’d like to see Bradley and Lewis get more minutes.ChooChooCat wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:57 amAll I know is putting any positive faith into this particular team is akin to pointing a gun to your head. Pelle too has made all kinds of poor decisions lately.Beachcat97 wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2024 8:16 am It’s been frustrating for sure. Definitely the most frustrating team for sure I can remember. The way the first team lets up when ahead is really unforgiveable. Although I have done my share when playing rec center ball and then regretted it when the other team gets all the momentum.
As soon as the guards start letting up, I would pull the 3 of them and put in Lewis, Bradley and Filip B/Martinez. Nothing like a little pine time to get your head right.
