Ball handlers, shooters, and tenacious on ball defenders. I like the formula.

I like Loyola. They play smart basketball with great guard play. When was the last time the Cats played like this in the tourney?

Loyola is taking KSU behind the woodshed. This team could win it all if they play like they are tonight.

The game has turned ugly. KSU is playing desperate and Loyola started playing not to lose. No one on Loyola wants to take control.

That was an abomination to the sport of basketball. I’m cheering for Loyola to make it through to the finals where unfortunately they will meet their demise when they encounter the first team they’ve played that will be supremely more talented than them. And we will see again why teams recruit one and done players.

Yeah, maybe a 8% win probability against Nova or 1% against Duke in the championship game. I've still enjoyed watching Loyola. They have shown great poise all tournament. They are there because of roster construction and coaching -- it's not a fluke.ByJoveByJingle wrote:That was an abomination to the sport of basketball. Loyola is a poor man's Villanova. But I wish them all the luck in the world. Of course I believe Villanova is the best team remaining.TatetheGreat wrote:Yeah, maybe a 8% win probability against Nova or 1% against Duke in the championship game. Is it just me or has there been only one ref that has been blowing his whistle in this game?
Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
This Duke KU game, wow. Duke getting the usual BS calls and KU can't get in the bonus even half way into OT Then a zebra made what might he the worst block call in the history of the tourney (where was this ref against Wisconsin)

The greatest threat to Coach K is the threat of video replay
Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
Clearly off Duke with 56.5 left in OT
Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
That possession of Duke's that ended at the 18.1 second mark sums this Duke team up nicely.
Peace out Dukies.

Schadenfreude special. I can’t even muster distaste for Kansas. Honestly this is their most likeable team. So Bagley couldn’t get it done either. He really was mostly a non-factor. Never would have anticipated it.
Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
Not sure how there was enough evidence to overturn the original call. My biggest issues he with replay system is that it can take forever and it only happens under 2 minutes. I understand they want to get the call correct. But why is under 2 minutes more important than an obvious overturn that could have happened earlier in the game.SCCats wrote:Clearly off Duke with 56.5 left in OT

My solution to the replay system in every sport is to have a replay official in the broadcast booth. The announcers are right 99% of the time within 15 seconds.Frybry02 wrote: Not sure how there was enough evidence to overturn the original call. Once again, the one and done strategy fails...
Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
Only 3 freshman starters for the ff teams. The one and done recruiting strategy is not the sure fire way to win championships that many believe it is

Villanova is playing their A game. Their team offense is fantastic and actually know how to pass. Unless they get into a cold spell there is no way Kansas can catch them. Their defense and rebounding is very good too. Spellman is a monster.

My Marana Sparty buddy has insisted that I as a local jinx the Squirrels, but he didn't make payment in favor of Loyola. Subsequently I stipulated that I would root against the Jayhawks....

Villanova's just too strong right now. Michigan putting up 36 points in 37 minutes ain't gonna cut it.

DiVincenzo is pretty good for a 6th man. Not every team has a guy who can score 27 off the bench

We would lose by 50 to Nova.
They are very good, very smart, and very tough.
That's a winning combination

i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
I was thinking the exact same thing. We would get crushed. Probably give up 20 3 balls and their guards would kill PJC and Alkins

We would look like the Washington Generals against Villanova. Actually, we looked that way in the Bahamas, vs UCLA, and against Buffalo, too.

Re: 2018 Non-Arizona March Madness Game Thread
So 3 of the 4 FF teams survived a last shot game. Both Loyola and Michigan get wins in the last second and Kansas survived a last second Duke shot that was half way down. Shows just how tough and lucky you have to be to get there

Another elite offense wins a title. Nova's 127.8 AdjO is the second most efficient offense in the KenPom era, just behind Wisconsin (2015) at 129.084Cat wrote:

"Washington Generals"
"We'd lose by 50 to Nova"
Quite a change from a month ago when the talk was "Win the Natty and Vacate"
Reality finally seems to be settling in on this board.
