I thought he wore a Washington jersey and he had one that was 1/2 AZ 1/2 Udub.
When and why would he have an asu Jersey on?

This would actually be a really good thingJefe wrote:Feels like Book 2.0. Hope Im wrong

I'm not sure there was a better hire that could be made that would be "best for the program." The sole requirements of this hire was that it had to be an African-American (check) with an ability to recruit at a high level (remains to be seen, but has already got our foot in the door with Seattle guys that didn't exist prior). The fact that it's an alum certainly doesn't hurt and obviously it builds goodwill with the fanbase much like the hire of Murphy rebuilt the goodwill with the basketball alums.Jefe wrote:This hire feels like Miller trying to get fans back on his side rather than whats best for the program. AZ is a stepping stone yet again
What?ChooChooCat wrote:The sole requirements of this hire was that it had to be an African-American (check)
He's gone as soon as a head coaching gig opens up. Maybe 2 years? Is anyone keeping track of how many we have lost? We're the Kentucky of coaches leaving early.ChooChooCat wrote:I'm not sure what you mean by calling AZ a stepping stone by hiring Jet? Help me out there.
So we’re a pit stop because he will be here for 2 years? But we need more Romars...who was here 1 year? What’s your argument again?Jefe wrote:What?ChooChooCat wrote:The sole requirements of this hire was that it had to be an African-American (check)Why?

We need more Romar's on our staff
This is basketball where roughly 90% of all your players in a 10 year period are African-American. You can't have a staff of all white guys. Hell even if it wasn't basketball you need some diversity.Jefe wrote:What?ChooChooCat wrote:The sole requirements of this hire was that it had to be an African-American (check)Why?
Ummm what is wrong with that? If Jet gets a head coaching opportunity he should take it. I doubt he would in two years as an assistant though as he doesn't have the coaching resume. Any coach who gets a promotion that Arizona can't give them should take it 100 times out of 100 like Justin Gainey just did.Jefe wrote:He's gone as soon as a head coaching gig opens up. Blah Blah Blah
One foot out the door this whole offseason.
No, but also no and no.84Cat wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:17 pm Does Jason Gardner's DUI prevent him from becoming an asst coach? Did he recruit well at IUPUI or Memphis? Who else is on the radar?
Gardner has the Alumni connection responsibility in his job description, so we have a strong connection still on staff.Beachcat97 wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:19 pm Was actually really happy JT was expected back. We need to maintain a connection to the Olson era and our "proud tradition," imo.
Oh well.
Mav's job went to a former LA Sparks WNBA player. And it seems like Terry is dead set on getting into the NBA coaching circle, so he's taking what is available.Postmaster wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 2:09 pm What happened to the Mavericks job?
Makes me feel like he isn’t happy here if his going to an expansion Gatorade League team.
From the buzz last year, it seemed like he was looking at college until the change.YoDeFoe wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 2:15 pmMav's job went to a former LA Sparks WNBA player. He and Lloyd never seemed like much of a fit anyways.
Yeah, I get the impression if Miller wasn't railroaded by our incompetent administration, Terry would have stuck around for a few years.Spaceman Spiff wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 5:15 pmFrom the buzz last year, it seemed like he was looking at college until the change.YoDeFoe wrote: Thu Aug 19, 2021 2:15 pmMav's job went to a former LA Sparks WNBA player. Maybe it's being vacated this season preemptively due to the NOA. You know, just to be safe.azcat49 wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:09 pm One oddity to me is I think we have had a bench coach position open for awhile and I wonder why we haven’t filled that?
Don't give Heeke and Bobby any ideas.
We have a hall of fame assistant on staff already. The solution is obvious.
As long as he had the opportunities in that universe that he had in this one, No.Postmaster wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:00 pm Choo,
You don’t think he would have stayed this year if Miller was retained?

If he truly thought that was a realistic option with this administration he was either ridiculously stupid or naive or both.Chicat wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:14 pmI’ve heard different.ChooChooCat wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:58 amAs long as he had the opportunities in that universe that he had in this one, No.Postmaster wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:00 pm Choo,

From a fairly good friend of Terry’s: the hope was that after being exonerated or not severely punished by the IARP that Miller would move on of his own accord and that Jet would be the coach-in-waiting.
What if I told you the recruiting at the moment isn’t nearly as bad as you believe it is?azcat49 wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:23 pm The way Lloyd is recruiting that still may happen LOL. At least now the Jet would have a few years of head coaching experience.

I think the idea was they’d outlast the current administration.ChooChooCat wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:52 pmIf he truly thought that was a realistic option with this administration he was either ridiculously stupid or naive or both.Chicat wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:14 pmI’ve heard different.ChooChooCat wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:58 amAs long as he had the opportunities in that universe that he had in this one, No.Postmaster wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 12:00 pm Choo,
