The "what year is it?" idea is hilarious, but small planes always scare me. Meanwhile, other than the FAA approving "door plugs" and the like on 767s, a big plane now is about like an autonomous city bus, as they've added all kinds of redundacies and protocols over the years. For contrast, I remember working in the media in the 70s. We liked the national buys from the airlines, because their commercials were so good, with Rhapsody in Blue for United and so forth. But there were so many plane crashes somewhere in the world every week or two that there was a rule about immediately pulling them if a crash was reported. You didn't want tragic news followed by somebody's care-free happy little jingle. So, at least in that regard, now is better.

Good example of how little remains of an aircraft, especially for 9/11 deniers. Sure hope there were no additional deaths on the ground.

The leading crash theory so far is that the plane may have stalled partly because it suffered from severe icing, meaning ice formed on its wings or on other parts of the plane, reducing its aerodynamic abilities and increasing its weight. With such i...

Apparently a police helicopter has collided with an inbound regional jet from Wichita near DCA - National Airport. There is video out there on BlueSky.

DC police says the copter wasn’t theirs. Rachel Madow says it was a Blackhawk helicopter. Time will tell, but so damned sad…

Yeah definitely the worst incident for a US carrier since 2009. First a collision and then falling into a still slightly icy Potomac isn't good

Reports are that it’s a Blackhawk.

Also reports that 4 bodies have been pulled from the river.
