A misspost ment for the '23 thread. It's the KJ Lewis post.
Terrible choice. Another sport that nobody will watch and that adds nothing to campus life. Going to take a few hours in the evening and go watch the triathlete competition on campus-or anywhere else?Merkin wrote: Mon Aug 22, 2022 1:49 pmGood call, triathlon it is.

Triathlons in Arizona usually use pools.azcat49 wrote: Tue Aug 23, 2022 9:11 am All road competitions? Not like we have a water way they could swim other than up in the Phoenix area
Robbin’s better fucking be next.
First post in the thread. Paging ChooChooCat, please pick up the white courtesy phone...ChooChooCat wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2019 1:34 pm Is getting a 1 year contract extension and a 100K because god hates us.
What’s the process for taking an AD from a conference opponent?
I only see what he would owe if he left on his own. $200,000 if he quit before April, 2024.Merkin wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 5:57 pm
It's probably here, but behind a paywall so I can't see it.

Based on what??? Yoiu don't know that an outside audit was conducted, and by who. And if the audit shows the CFO royally screwed up and then covered it up then she should be fired.Chicat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:38 pm The audit happened. Now the heads are rolling.
I want Robbins gone.
I doubt that cost $240MFishclamps wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:46 pm I would argue based on him purchasing a garbage online diploma mill to hang like an albatross on our university's neck
I don't know that it was Heekes fault. Hard to believe that the athletic dept. lost $240M.Fishclamps wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:55 pm Oh I'm not saying it wasn't Dave's fault partially, but Robbins has made some bad moves as president and I wouldn't mind seeing him hit the bricks either.
Its really not that complicated.dmjcat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:34 pm Lots of speculation and very little in the way of facts to determine the proper course of action here.
I'll repeat what I said when the $240M first went missing.......The ABOR should bring in independent accountants and audit the books for everything. If it was the CFO's fault, then fire her. If Robbins knew all along then fire his ass. If Heeke did wildly overspend then fire (wait a minute, that already happened).
Bottom line the ABOR had better conduct a very thorough independent audit of the UA's books. I would not trust anyone at the UA. But if heads will roll it needs to be the right heads, not just someone who is unpopular with a lot of professors.
I obviously can't speak for the UA, but at the California university I worked at, Campus Housing used no state funding for their construction projects.dmjcat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:11 pm For those that don't live in Tucson the UA has been engaged in a number of large construction projects (mainly centered around the NW side of the campus). These projects are very large and costs lots of $$$$$.
There isn't any UA money in the NW side projects unless it's hidden very well, and I don't believe public entities can do that. At one point they might have sold the land to the developers, but that'd be it. North of Speedway by the AME building is a UA structure though (not student housing), as is the recently complete phase 2 of the Optical Sciences building near the library.dmjcat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:11 pm For those that don't live in Tucson the UA has been engaged in a number of large construction projects (mainly centered around the NW side of the campus). Partially agree. #1 should get him fired. #2 should only get him fired if there is a reasonable expectation that he should have discovered the fiscal mismanagement going on under his nose. There are a number of things that coulc have happened:Alieberman wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:21 pmIts really not that complicated.dmjcat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:34 pm Lots of speculation and very little in the way of facts to determine the proper course of action here.

If you are president of a company and $250 million dollars goes "missing" 1 of 2 things must be true:
1-You knew about it which makes you complicit
2- You didn't know about it which makes you incompetent
Take your pick, but the outcome should be the same either way
Not defending Robbins in any way but it is 3-$250 was never missingAlieberman wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:21 pmIts really not that complicated.dmjcat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:34 pm Lots of speculation and very little in the way of facts to determine the proper course of action here.

Scheer is the one that said it was no big deal. I posted that it was a big deal and it probably cost us a football coach and now an AD. Waiting for the audit but Robbins will save his own skin first.dmjcat wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 6:34 pm Lots of speculation and very little in the way of facts to determine the proper course of action here.

You may be correct. But I still believe that the "lost" money is in construction projects. Here's a current list of construction projectsmofo wrote: Mon Jan 22, 2024 7:44 pmThere isn't any UA money in the NW side projects unless it's hidden very well, and I don't believe public entities can do that. UA has also built a lot around the DT Phoenix TGEN campus.
